Really cool little game! Awesome graphics and music. I would have loved to be able to play full screen as it was pretty small on my 4K monitor.

The game is quite hard! I was quickly overwhelmed from the first levels...

However I love the atmosphere and art style, reminds me of the oldschool battleaxe games I used to play on the arcade.

Really cool entry, great job!

@allan-kong Glad you like it! In the future, I will make my games resizable.

The game runs now, but it's not spawning the first wave. I kill the dummy and it goes translucent and level changes to 1, but it never disappears.

(Sneaking suspicion: it's another gamepad bug and I should just admit defeat and go find my Steam controller already because games designed around a very specific I/O configuration always appear in game jams)

@triplefox I am unable to replicate this bug. It sounds like a collision issue between the dummy and the object over the pit that handles the enemy kills. When you throw the dummy over, it should disappear. The only thing I can think of is to try restarting the game.

It's a bit intense in the beginning. But the audio and graphic style are really cool.

Nice job. Keep up the good work :)

@guilhermoni Just so we are both on the same page, you are throwing the dummy over the void at the bottom of the game room, right? If there is any way you can send me a video of the glitch @ jmcclure235@gmail.com, so I can see exactly what is happening, that would be great :)

@pixels-everywhere Oh ok, i threw it and it got working. Really fun game, pretty solid. Art is fine, so is sound. Just wished that when blocking we could still move, but at reduced speed. Well done!

@guilhermoni Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, I agree with you, movement while blocking would have been better, the idea didnt even cross my mind during the jam, lol.

@earnso Thanxs! Maybe they should add a nostalgia rating.... >:). Just kidding!

@hakro In the future, I will make the audio fade in rather than stat abruptly. Thanks for the feed-back!

The game looks great and fits the theme really well. For me it was a bit too difficult on the first level, but then again, I might just not be very good!

It looks awesome ! Great graphics, and the gameplay seems fun, however... I just can't play it x). I kill the dummy but the game still doesn't start, no monster wave coming, and I can't do anything else than keeping hitting the poor dummy (still funny though). Even after restarting and killing it again I have the same problem. It's a shame because I would really like to play this game !

@whismirk You have to pick the dummy up and throw him into the abyss at the bottom of the screen

@pixels-everywhere My bad, I thought it was only for the monsters, ah ah. I should have tried it though, but I'm just too stupid. Anyway, an awesome and challenging game, great job !

@whismirk Dont say that, you're not stupid! I should have made that more clear in the instructions for my game. I had the mind to make a tutorial scene with the dummy, but i ran out of time. ;w;

The game is very difficult, but the game is quite fun and sounds awesome and looks stunning. I thin that if the game was slightly easier the theme would be much more noticeable.

I like the detailed pixel art style and the little character sprites. The music is pretty groovy too. Having to throw enemies off of the stage is an interesting idea, but I feel that the combat is a bit bare bones and repetitive. Despite my issues with the combat, this is an overall solid entry. Good job!

@sinnis @ronchiko @superpokeunicorn When the jam and grading is over, i will probably make a post Ludum Dare version, to fix the difficulty curve, add a tutorial, add different combat, etc..

Thank you all very much for your criticism!

Quite neat. I will say it was super unclear from ingame information that the bottom of the screen was a pit and that I needed to throw things into, I thought my game had bugged after I defeated the dummy until I read this page again. The music is a very fun groove, but doesn't loop very well.

Looks great. Very solid work.

Yeah like the others I had a problem too on the start. There was no information that you have to push this dummy down. But the battle after that was fun. The Pixel arts, music and animations are good too!

Great pixel art, i really admire people, who can draw complex pixelart gfx during the 48 hrs of compo! Good work, 5/5!

Amazing graphics!

Like all concepts, it's kinda hard to really know how well it will work. The problem I saw was instead of it being a matter of throwing corpses off of the platform to make room to move around, I would just end up dying instead because there were so many of them at once. So maybe turn down the spawn rate for each wave?

The sounds fit pretty well. Some of them seem a little loud, but overall I think they add to the experience. And the mechanics are pretty smooth, I do wish it was a littler more dynamic, like being able to move while attacking? Or having some sort of dash ability? I guess what I'm trying to get at is that the combat wasn't super rewarding. I don't know, but what I do know is you did some good stuff here.

Great work!

Really nice game, but very, very difficult! I got overwhelmed in wave 1 - a lot of enemies spawn in and do a ton of damage! Also, as others have said, it's not entirely clear that you're supposed to throw enemies into the pit.

With some difficulty tweaks, this could be really cool.

@taner @sublustris Thanks for the feedback!
@colin-misbach Yeah, the overbearing difficulty was a bit of an oversight in the haste of the compo. I made an attempt by putting a limit on how many mobs are allowed to be alive on the screen before more can spawn, but i forgot to put rules for which mobs can spawn at any given time.

I agree with Colin. Really enjoy all the aesthetics, and the sheer variety of monsters you've created, I just wish you could attack along the vertical axis too. Its easy to get mobbed down while focusing one enemy, and then you have no escape. I do like the corpses being in the way as a concept, just tuning down the spawn rates would make it better.

Awesome but too rough with the first wave.
Also minor point: The carpet seems a bit too noisy/distracting. But overall the graphics are great.
Nice job!

First of all superb gprahics and sound!
Second the game feel is really nice, reminding me of souls games where you need to find the moment to attack.

Of course it's also very hard with all types of monsters spawning on first wave, will try balanced version later.

Beautiful presentation and there is a very good amount of enemy types and patterns. I think it would be better if the character had a slash instead of a stab (maybe as an upgrade or something), to cover more area. Also, I wish I could walk and block at the same time, even if at half speed. Solid entry.

Good job.
