think if you tried to put i bit more work into the graphics it would be a great game :)
As for the music, I actually found it quite interesting to listen to. Quite fitting for a game that doesn't require a lot of "thinking power". The rhythm is quite engaging, but I think the instrumentation could use some more layering (or maybe not, I'm not an expert...). The smoke from the furnace is a very nice detail. Overall, for your second LD, you can be quite proud of this!
Regarding the audio; I think it's very out of place to be honest. I would have liked to see some kind of western/cowboy music (and a banjo!)
@joskineide yeah i know it's annoying i'm trying to fix this bug. Tnx for feedback
@phi really thanks , for this LD i wanted to add all the features such as music and a bit more "cool" graphics. yeah i know that i need to add some more features :) . Tnx!
@funkyhippo Tnx ! Yes the coal-meter declined really fast , i've tried to fix that but with no result . Ahahha for the music i understand , at the beginning i wanted to add some more western style and at least only the train seem like a western train ahah
thank you guys for the feedback!
The graphics are very nice and fit together perfectly. I think the music is a bit annoying and I didn't really want to listen to it on repeat the entire time.
The gameplay is simple and would be pretty fun, but I think I really suck at this game. I constantly get stuck everywhere. I go to get the coal, try to unload it and fall through the floor. And when I don't I still only make like 2 trips before I lose. I think this really needs to be a bit easier.
Overall I like the idea a lot though. Good work.
I appreciated the distinctive graphical style.
Keep at it.
The graphics are well done, and I appreciate the presence of small details like the animation of the character or the fire in the locomotive.
The only negative point (as also other people said) is the "getting stuck on a wall" issue (that's probably the fault of Unity - I had some strange behavior with unity physics before) and the, most importantly, the repetitiveness of the gameplay.
I think that you just may have needed 1 or 2 "events" happening randomly during gameplay (the train splitting in half? a bridge coming in? whatever is ok) and it may have been much more fun than right now. I also understand that 48h is not much time for doing crazy complex gameplay...
On the wall issue, next time you may want to consider doing some geometrical calculation by yourself, (even though it takes way way more time than just putting a rigidbody on the player, so I don't know how well suited this option is for a LD). If the objects are rectangular and all oriented in the same direction is not difficult to do, and you can also learn how collision calculation works (and you may be able to tweak behavior even more than unity allows :D)
I hope you had some fun in doing it and maybe a good opportunity to learn something new :grinning:
See you next LD!
Maybe you can improve it next time! (I had the same problem last LD)
