Space Waste by BBApps

[raw]
made by BBApps for LD 42 (COMPO)

The Earth is too full In 2020, you must now find another way to get rid of the Earth's garbage and population. You must send ships to certain planets to send your trash to while sending colonizers to others to stop overpopulation. The ways to lose are either a planet falling to overpopulation or your planet filling with garbage.

As trash builds up on your planets, you must find bigger ones to send the trash too, you must also send your ever growing population to other planets and colonize them, the only problem is that they will also make trash and that must be sent somewhere. Screen Shot 2018-08-11 at 7.41.32 PM.png

Nice job getting a tutorial in, that helps a lot. One thing I quickly learned that others will need to know: mouse wheel zooms in/out. I think the mood of this game is pretty scary, and reminds me of Wall-e, the planet getting overrun by trash. I like watching all the ships going back and forth between planets, especially once I had quite a few colonies! Good work :)

A timely environmental message - was kinda fun at first picking a random planet and saying "haha, you're a trash planet!" but then things got really interesting when it dawned on me there was no win condition - just a matter of managing things to hang on for as long as possible.

The UI was really nicely put together - it's simple enough, sure, but it felt really intuitive with is a great accomplishment.

Well done!

It was fun while it lasted! I like the impending doom feeling in that there's no victory, but I also want to play it more, hah.

I really appreciated the addition of the tutorial to teach me how to play this. After completely botching my first attempt I had a solid second run until I ran out of planets to trash. Thanks for making this.

Loved the atmosphere, and the inevitable failure. This game felt great and really made me think, believe it or not.

It's a neat little game. Very simple to play, but has some complexities to it once you get into it.

Thank you for including the tutorial. Tutorials are hard to make, but your tutorial was well made and taught me how to play the game in like 10 seconds.

The art style is cute and the UI is quite helpful. It's super handy to be able to just click on the notices at the bottom to go directly to that planet to fix the problem. One thing I think would have been nice is some numbers by the planets. It mostly helps early game to keep track of the population on your planets without having to click on all the planets you've colonized.

The game very quickly turns into just clicking things as fast as you can because your planets are populating and creating trash faster than you can even think about moving it elsewhere. It's pretty fun to frantically click on planets and just try to keep your head above water. Everything is pretty well polished. Between the tutorial and the alerts that take you directly to the planet, it is very easy to play; the menus don't get in you way, the only thing in your way is how fast you can click and running out of planets.

After writing this all about how frantic the game becomes, I now remember that there is a pause button in the game... Oh well, I liked playing it frantically, just throwing trash and people at random planets.

Great concept! Hits too close to home haha hard not to feel like we inevitably destroy everything we come into contact with. The graphics were simple but did the trick. The music really adds to the bleak atmosphere already established by the premise. The mechanics are solid and well executed and the game tied in wonderfully with the theme. The tutorial was nice as well. Great job on this!

I managed to get to 2470 on first try, I assume you are going to run out of planets sooner or later and it is all about how you manage them which I think is really cool. I'm so glad you added tutorial, it made the entire gameplay completely clear. I wish there was way to remove full trash planets from the view but I think that's my only issue with the game. Overall, it was fun to play and unique, great work!
