The skeletons took my boat by smiley

Hunt skeletons in search for your boat and the oars so you can leave the island!
Watch out for the poisonous gas the evil skeletons and bats are leaving behind!
Enjoy random generated islands. Yes you will get a new one every time you play!
Instructions
- WASD to move around
- Mouse-wheel or 1-3 to change weapon
- Aim with the mouse.
- Space or mouse button to shoot.
- Survive long enough to find the boat, the oars and escape :) * The skeletons will drop both items *
- Make sure that the poisonous gas doesn't cover the whole island. You wouldn't like to run out of space would you? ;)
You can stay in the poisonous gas but you will get hurt. If you reach "99" you will loose a heart from your health. The pickups will refill your ammo and also your health and hurt bar.
All content and code was created during the jam. Nothing downloaded and used from the Unity asset store or other sites.

Technical details
We left the comfort zone and used Unity this time instead of the usual Java and LibGDX. Both good and bad experiences... :)

What was fun:
Learning Unity.. And that crazy idea late Sunday afternoon: - Lets design an island.. - No don't bother paint it.. we will create random islands with code!
What was less fun:
The 19 crashes and four restarts of Unity..
Couldn't find an easy way to feed fonts into the UI so I wrote a little (very limited) font renderer (which on the other hand was fun).
The theme... Tricky but we managed to do something touching the theme at least

I was fun to play and the end music was very nice. Lets just hope he can out row those skeletons.
This game was so adorable that I can't stop expressing myself in exclamations! But for real though, this game is a pure joy to play and listen to. Those silly "Ooooh pe-pew" and "Uuuuh pa-pow!" were hilarious as was the whole premise of skeletons stealing this man's boat for some reason.
As for the gameplay that poison feature was an interesting one. I remember actually making a strategic decisions of going or not going for pickups in poison puddles. And one time I had only two hearts and was cornered, so I said yolo and ran through the whole poison lake. Miraculously there were three healthpacks in a row just sitting there, so I picked them up along with the paddle and barely escaped with my life. That was epic!
Thank you for such an experience. This game was crafted with love and joy and that really shows.
Neat little game~ The voice acting is funny, and I love how it feels shooting at those bats and skeletons. It was rather easy, and it lagged when there was a lot of entities on the screen, but it left a good lasting expression.
In terms of the theme, I still had a lot of space to move around in, despite the darkness area growing.
For me personally, it didn't make sense that the zombies had the parts to the boat. I only read the first part of the directions and looked for the boat by going around the whole island lol. I finally realized my mistake after I read the directions in detail (like I should've done in the first place).
But yeah, this was a great reminder that music and sound could add so much to the game.
Still, a cool concept! Love the idea of enemies creating the bit that makes you run out of space. Makes for a nice push and pull of "do I want to kill them?"
