I thought the landing sound effect was a little bit too loud and could be more subtle. Beyond that, good job!
Thanks for your comment. Did you got stuck by a glitch or was it for the level design? I ran over a bug in development that I tought I corrected it, I hope is not that.
Also, we're creating a game in a short time period, so there's a limit to how much one can create, but you also used this to your advantage. I don't know how many levels you've created (I've only played it once through so far), but the one level I played plays like multiple levels, because you have to keep going through it. In other words, you have one level that feels like many levels. This plays perfectly into your hand - the constraints of time to build it. The build plays perfectly into the theme - in a way that's not remotely annoying. The title of the game is even perfect. And, I didn't need to know any controls. I just pressed a couple buttons early on and figured it out.
Making games is exactly what you should be doing. Congratulations. This is brilliant. Creativity is using negative parameters to your advantage, and you've done that in all aspects here. This is a real game. Not a real game for something made in a weekend, but a real game. I'm glad I found it. I will definitely play it more. Thank you for creating this and sharing it with the world.
The mechanics I created are used to give the player the freedom to take advantage of the situation and create a sense of accomplishment trough observation.
I only made one level but I would like to create the final version with at least 5 more.
I should be thanking you for encouraging me to develop the final version for this game.
Thanks @cubeeo :)
* I think there are some bugs with depth (like item in front of a fist trap
I just saw that, I'll check it out, thanks! :)
I think it is a little hard to get that part trough. Did you double jumped at max height? It is the only way to get pass the final level.
I don't really see a need for lives though, especially with the spikes and hard difficulty. Using time as a score and having infinite lives for us less good players, or a way to gain lives / health back would be what I'd suggest.
It is quite hard to play it trough and extra lives or health power ups would be a huge help. Thanks for the feedback!
Definitely the ladders are going to be re-designed to be easier to move on!
The level design was really good and I loved the look of all the sprites in the game. The concept of the more money you have, the more you weigh was very interesting and I thought it was generally executed very well.
### To Improve:
I would've liked a button to drop some gold; there were parts of the level which were impossible with certain amounts of gold. I also think that the jumps at the top of the stage should've been easier when you had more gold because I was convinced that they were impossible. Your score is based on how much gold you have so you shouldn't punish the player for taking too much gold at the beginning.
But overall, an interesting game with a really nice feel to it, well done.
I think that the speed decreases a lot. I think I'll add to the base speed so that the movement woudln't feel so awkward.
Animation and design are beautiful, the game is extremely fun (:
Indeed, I was planning to drop the treasures found so that the player could strategize better how to collect and come back for it but I lost track of time and couldn't add that mechanic. We'll add more mechanics in the final release!
Stealing the plate from the meal is a fun idea! I think that the enemies are sort of camouflaged in the scenario and is quite hard to pay atention to them while searching for treasure. I think that I used to many blending colors between the items and the background. I'll use a new color pallete to define everything well. Thanks for your feedback!
I was aiming for something cute and fun!
Pls feel free to play and rate my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/split
Definitely I'll add some kick-*ss soundtrack to it!
I was aiming something close to Super Mario World haha.
I'm glad you liked it! :)
After playing Nabi for the hundredth time I learned a lot to. It get tedious to go back, I was thinking in adding more pads to deploy the treasure but I wasn't sure as i wanted the player to strategize around the environment. I'll check your game in a moment! Nice that we used the same concept for the game theme!
I like retro style and I used most of the NES color pallete. :)
I'll check Treasure Grab ASAP! :)
Gotta improve the speed value in the next version. :)
I do not have a page in indiexpo but as soon as I can I'll make one and let you know.
It would be amazing if my game gets featured in your video. Gonna check out your streams / videos!
Loved the pixel art. Really neat.
The sfx feels a bit loud (maybe because de the lack of music), and maybe it would have been nice to have the bag getting bigger behind the character (or maybe not idk...)
It was fun to play, loved it :)
I agree about the sound effects beign too loud haha, I was planning to add music and adding a bag to the character but ran out of time (I fell asleep twice :( ) but I'll add it in the final version. Thanks for your feedback! I'll check out your game too!
Cons for me is to walking across clean and empty location. Shortcuts from hight levels will solve this problem. Don't force player replay boring location - force them play new interesting and more hard locations!
Only thing I didn't like was having to run up again to get more stuff.
Good job!
All the levels are open from the left area, so you can fall down to deploy the treasure. I'll take your idea about adding more interesting locations!
:)
I think the more levels you clear, the higher an elevator appears at the beggining! I'll add it as soon as possible, thank you so much!
I love to do pixel art, I had some practice some time ago, so I could manage to do something for the jam haha.
