What is "Final Voyage?"

In Final Voyage a catastrophic breach has occurred on your space ship and you are tasked with containing it until you reach the base. In this fast pased RTS you juggle macro oriented building and resource management with micro heavy combat. It is highly recommended that you take your time and read this page, specially if you are new to the RTS-genre.

[Controls]

  • [Scroll wheel] - Zoom in or out.
  • [Arrow keys / mouse movement] - Move camera
  • [Left Click + Drag] - Select
  • [Right Click] - Issue move command (Won't stop to shoot enemies until destination reached)
  • [CTRL + 1-9] - Add currently selected units to a control group.
  • [1-9] - Select control units in control groups (click again to center on them)
  • [Spacebar] - Center camera on selected units
  • [A] - Attack move (Stop to attack if enemies enter the units range)
  • [R] - Restart the game.
  • [E] - Start the engine of the ship when you are ready for the first wave of enemies.
  • [S] - Issue a stop command.
  • [B] - Open the Build menu
  • [M] - Minimize the Minimap

[Units]

  • [Damage] - Researched from the Laboratory. Permanently increases the damage that your units deal.

  • [Health] - Researched from the Laboratory. Permanently increases the total health of your units.

  • [Speed] - Researched from the Laboratory. Permanently increases the maximum speed of your units.

  • [Stability] - Researched from the Factory. Permanently increases the total health of your structures.

[3 Quick tips]

  • Watch the mini map for breaches.
  • Researchers generate currency when on Alien occupied tiles.
  • A good plan B is to build a new base and Defend that rather than trying to contain the enemies.

[Strategy]

Early game

The key to the early game is to keep an eye on the mini-map in order to quickly see when your walls break. Build new walls as soon as possible. Focus on building a lot of units and ignore researching. Keep it simple, but effective. If you mess up you can always press [R] to restart and try again.

Mid game

Try to get a few researchers on enemy soil. Their resource gathering is key to keeping up with the growing strength of the Alien. Keep producing units and repairing the walls. If things are under control spend some currency on upgrading your units. This will come very handy later on.

Late game

At some point you will lose control of the alien and he will successfully breach your walls. Stop trying to contain him at this point as it is just a waste of resources. Pick a part of the map that is far away and construct a new base there. The goal is no longer to contain the Alien but to fight tooth and nail for survival and hope that you reach your destination before your last defenses fall.

Super fun once you figure out what you're supposed to be doing.

Voice acting was a nice touch, the art is obviously incredible, it's really well put together, honestly.

I really, really like the whole command and conquer vibe.

Wow! This is a super polished game with so many little details! I love the art, and of course the voice acting was just another level to add to the overall brilliant mood.
I think I still didn't figure out everything, since there are so many things you can do - and on top of that it's all narrated. Great! For a game jam entry this is very impressive. Well done!

I will definitely play this game some more to find out about every little building details and units you can use!

Btw: just saw it played on stream, and HAD to play it myself, it looks so beautiful :)

This is really good! There is just so much here and it makes me miss the days when RTS games were coming out! Lol.

I had some error when I alt tabbed, but those went away when I restarted again a couple times.

Only problem is probably my own fault, but I feel like I should be able to clean up the goo somehow. But whatever, I only noticed because I ran out of space! lol! :D

Wow! A lot of depth here, lots of units and assets, strategy is pretty deep. I could only make it about 2/3rds of the way to safety -_-.

Only thing I would suggest for improvements is having a hotkey for building walls (or, each of the various build menus could have 1-5 select the 1st-5th element). I kept hitting "B, W" for some reason thing it would switch to building walls, and only ever got me half way there ^_^.

Check out my game if you want an entirely different kind of real-time star-ship strategy =).

I was a little lost in the beginning, but after I stuck with it... wow. I can't believe you guys built this in such a short amount of time. Fun game, and great level of polish. The voice acting is a very nice touch (and my dyslexic brain appreciates it!)

Cool game! At least one of the text display boxes has text that overflows past the graphical container, which obviously isn't great. Otherwise graphics are nice! The building selection bug that you described on erebuswolf's stream is definitely frustrating. The voice acting is a nice touch, and the music/sounds are nice and simple. The UI is a bit inconsistent, for example the size and graphics between the characters, and buildings. The minimap is also a nice touch. Good job overall!

Great submission! Had a good small time playing with this so keep it up! Had an issue when trying to move the window, it decided to hide and run away. Good graphics and audio and simple yet fun gameplay! Thank you for your submission and thanks for joining the stream!

Awesome game, I love the voice acting (especially for unit creation and command)!

A minor bug; the numbers are in decimals? So you sometimes have like 349.99999 coins.

Anyway, the gameplay was very smooth, the graphics look great and I've got to say the voice actors did a great job!

Very polished for just a few days! I'll admit I didn't get super far, since I didn't quite crack a strategy. But I thought the art was quite good, and I liked the voice-overs. I was a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out what to build for defenses, and I didn't have a very strong idea of what things to prioritize: the spread was intense. But my inability to play RTS games doesn't stop me from giving this a big thumbs up

This is quite impressive. The controls are fine and the presentation is really good. I think there should be more rewarding events and the creep didn't spread as fast. Other than that, the game is great. If you guys work on a post-jam version, feel free to @me.

Good job.

Hi !! This is a really cool submission, I like how it all feels like the original Starcraft... It brought back some happy memories :)

Maybe I would have liked to have more information on how to win the game, as this was pretty difficult to figure out. Otherwise the game is well balanced and fun to play, I had quite a good time !!

Graphics are nicely done, and the audio part is awesome. You did a tremendous work on the voicelines, which really makes a difference in my appreciation of your game. One of my favorite so far I'd say :) Great job !!!

Really cool game, though I wish it eased me into it a little more. It's a bit overwhelming in the beginning while I'm trying to figure things out.

Graphics/Audio/Voice acting were great.

I am bad at tower defense. HOWEVER! Excellent entry! <3

Frankly, this was fantastic. Im a fan of strategy games and this fits the bill. Even as a tower defense you need to be smart about your investments and chose what your hill to die on (literally) will be. Well done, im shocked this was done in so little time. Good work!
10/10 would pick a corner and build three layers of walls again.
