Vanishing Space is a Spaceshooter. You are surrounded by an endless void crawling towards you. As your goal is to achieve as many points as possible, youre primary objective is to avoid the void by flying around performing awesome moves and collecting energy by destroying every obstacle in your way.

Controls:
tilt spaceship: [A/D]
speed up : [W]
fire at will : [space]
use boost : [shift]

Everything in the game was made by us, Minewar, Doctor and Zetraeder, in 72 hours, using Gamemaker Studio 1.4, Paint.net, sfxr and Ableton Live 9.

Update: As you may noticed, our itchio-site now features another file called "VanishingSpace - PostJamUpdate". We proudly present the piñata-update. During the exploration of the vanishing cosmos you may find one of four lost piñatas floating in space. Shoot em up and gain enrgy by doing so, but dont let your joy distract you from the great danger caused by the approuching void. Also, this update includes some adjustments concerning the energy, e.g. you will lose energy even when standing still. To counteract this, just shoot some meteroids and find the piñatas.

Nice game, Max score I got was 7243. I loved the trail effect and the pixel art was pretty well done. Solid entry. I feel like if you stay still the fuel should still deplete a little bit. A full version of this game with levels and such would be pretty cool, good job! Also, loved the soundtrack.

12077, Great entry with good sound effects and fun gameplay, you guys did a fantastic job with the shooting, it was super fun to fly around and blast away at asteroids. The music is okay, and enemies of some sort would have been good. 4/5 overall.

Maybe enemies would have been a good idea, but we did not implement them on purpose cause our game concentrates on the player getting caught by the void. Thats why energy isnt a very rare resource and enemies arent around. But thanks for your feedback, maybe we are posting another mode including enemies later.

Nice all rounder here. Most importantly, the ship felt great to control and shoot. Good work.

There's something so satisfying about asteroid-like games.
Loved the way you implemented the turning and the particles are cool.
One minor problem to me was the sense of a lack of purpose.

Nice! A very simplistic gameplay loop which is fun and satisfying. I liked how there was a time limit as to what you could do, a score system would potentially make it even more fun. Particle effects were really cool and I liked the music. Good work! :)

This was a nice entry. I liked the ship movement, the trails as you flew and the smooth shooting and flying. I would have liked to see more challenges beyond the reducing room size, though.

The controls and audio were great! But I think there should be a sound effect when you touch the walls and not just a scene change.

Everything else is great.

This game has great controls, nice and fitting music, and a satisfying punch to all your actions. I especially liked how your ship's trail looked, and how it changed colour to reflect how much time you have left. However, I think just having your ship float there in space without anything to do when you lose is a major buzzkill, and removes or at least downplays the whole 'shrinking playfield' thing. Personally, I would have allowed the player to keep controlling the player right until the very end - that way it feels like it's the encroaching void that ends the game, instead of you running out of fuel and then also the void happens i guess.

Although I haven't played many games yet, this is the best "out of the box" interpretation of the theme I've seen so far.

The game is fun, maybe turning is a little too sensitive, but it's not out of control -- it was fun to try getting it right.

One thing to improve is to make it clear that the top bar is your energy. Also, it would be nice to have some feedback about how close to the void you are, so you don't throw yourself into it because it's too late when it appears.

Great job with the art and effects. The small touches like the stars stretching when you boost and how the bullets stretch are all well done. The controls also feel very good when handling the ship. Wish there more stuff to do like shoot other ships, but it's otherwise a good entry!
