Hearing the monster but not knowing where it was felt pretty creepy.  Everybody else has pointed out the controls problem so me doing that is probably unnecessary.  Going through a dark maze with no indication of where to go does get a bit boring after a while.  It might have been better if there was some sort of map or indicator.  I liked the addition of the save zones so that if you ran out of power it was still possible. Alternatively, the enemy could drain your power rather than instant kill.
