Tycoon by dob
Go for the big bucks, avoid skulls, and defeat your fellow tycoons. You need power to make moves, but you're constantly running out. All this in a hyper-unrealistic simulation full of cubes. So many cubes.
I was going for a weird, different mechanic, which I think I achieved. Not sure I achieved a fun mechanic, but you can judge that. The game was complex enough that I didn't get to balance or tweak it much, so it's a bit unbalanced. You WILL run out of power, though - that part I got down.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think. Here are the links (playable in browser, WebGL via Unity):

http://planktongames.com/TycoonBuild (this is the original submitted version on 7/30/17)
I fixed the following three things in the bug-fix version, which was submitted still within the extended submission period on Monday. There were no other changes. The three fixes were:
- Couldn't win by opponent skulls (see comments below) - I corrected one variable name (EnemyHealth) in one place to fix this.
- Rare unclickable boxes - I added one line of code ("blew = false";) to fix this.
- Increased sound volume on several WAV files to make them more audible

The game is solid in its controls, it has in-game instructions and is intuitively playable, these are all very important aspects of creating a game. Thank you and keep up the good work :-)
- Update - I found the bug and posted a bug fix in accordance with the compo rules. Sorry again about the issue.
The sound effects I thought were a little bit silly and somewhat annoying, and it could have used some ambient music. Other than that, really cool game!
But there seems to be a bug where the enemy has to have more skull boxes to loose then indicated.
I played against vladimir and he had skull boxes to the bottom of the screen and didn't loose.
The physics is good.
Keep moving forward.
So yeah, the hearts didn't do anything for me. Should they have?
The SFX made the game surprisingly immersive. i played the 1st half before realizing my speaker was off but the 2nd half felt alot more immersive simply because of the satisfying exploding sound to go along with the scatter of blocks and the "hueh" sound from the opponent.
Though i would recommend the opponents not be political figures, while i am fine with it, i could definitely see others finding it offensive.
Great approach to the theme!
The game mechanics were unique for me, I liked that. Although it took me some time to understand the mechanics without reading the instructions that much. The experience produced from the gameplay supported the game mechanics at any way :D The sounds can sometimes hurt because yeah let's face it... The world can be harsh to us, if you know what I mean. The AI was also unfair, why he doesn't have power like he can just hit the blocks the whole time? (probably adds the meaning, about reality I guess haha). That's all, keep up the good work :)
**Overall game impression:** Ohh god this is super fun! The physics work great, sound effects are very fitting, gameplay is smooth and addicting, graphics are pleasant and yet simple. Gameplay was really easy to figure out. (As expected from a professional honestly, amazing game). One awesome little touch I enjoyed a lot was the voiced- 'Your power is running out' haha, cool voice :D
**Suggestions and comments on improvement:** I'm thinking really hard but I can't really come up with anything major. Some minor things I'd like to see added / changed: Make the holes in the bottom stand out more, so it's more obvious to see what you have to do. (Or add some kind of quick tutorial in game?). And menu sounds, when clicking a button it'd be nice to have a sound effect (I know I know, I'm being super picky here and most games for LD jams wouldn't have that as there's no time, but I gotta be picky about something else I'll have nothing at all to suggest....)
The gameplay itself is a little disjointed from the aesthetic, but even so, it was easy to pick up and get started winning. It's a lot of fun! I may have liked a little less friction on the cubes, as they're sometimes easy to get jammed together for a while.
This game has good potential to be extended as a nice party game.
Rump defeated me >:( That's not nice!
Good gameplay and I like the game physics!
Great job!
