Shifter by eye776

[raw]
made by eye776 for LD35 (COMPO)
Control a shape shifting craft. Destroy as many enemy ships as possible.

[KEYBOARD CONTROLS]
UP & DOWN - move up and down
SPACE - shoot
CONTROL - shapeshift (changes ability)

[GAMEPAD CONTROLS]
UP & DOWN - move up and down
Y - shoot
B - change ability

[ABILITIES]
SHOOTER - normal mode, shoots bullets
CHARGER - slowly recover HP but can't fire
POWER - shoot bullets faster
SHIELD - invulnerable but can't fire

What was used: Mainly Godot, blipseq for the "Music" and sfxr for sfx, everything else was drawn in GIMP.

This project started out as a different genre of game, but realizing there was no time left, I decided to repurpose it into a side scrolling shooter about 12 hours before the deadline.

Whilst I didn't find the gameplay particularly interesting, the animation on the shifter was really cool. :)

Well done! very well polished and all!

I just thing the cooldown for the weapon is a bit to high :(

Nice job. Could maybe have used some more balance / tuning work - as Foxtacy said, the delay between shots was kind of long even in "power" mode - but the core idea is solid. Great graphics work; I liked the menu transition animation (the wedges-disappearing thing) and the shapeshifting effect as well.

I agree with Foxtacy, the cooldown is to high. However I like this entry for it's completeness.

I really like your graphics work here, I'm definitely going to have a peak at how you did some of it as I learn Godot. A solid idea that could have really benefited from more balancing time (couldn't we all?)
