I like the clean layout and simple color palette. I know it's in the works, but more textual window dressing would go a long way, such as fake, on-theme headlines ("[Conservative/liberal] Senator [random-name] embroiled in [pro/anti-religion] scandal") and better fake author names. Well done, and as a browser game it's nicely lightweight.
I really think there should be a manual because i really didn't knew what i was doing.
I felt i was just clicking buttons as fast as i could :D
@katie-dover Awesome! That's exactly the sort of feeling I was shooting for. Great!
@bloc97 @roidz This could definitely use a tutorial or at least a little slideshow talking you through the interface and how the pieces interact. Thank you.
@matank Thank you for the feedback. I agree that the icons are hard to distinguish and not terribly memorable. Maybe something more abstract (circles, square, triangles) would make it easier to remember what sorts of stories you're hoping to publish.
@inworks Yes, quite lacking in sound effects and this is such a huge space for being clever! The post jam version will address this.
@tony-li Fantastic idea. Working on that now for the post jam version. Thank you!
@evan-charfauros I love this story. I'm glad the balance and mechanics of the game work well enough to have created this experience for you. One of my post-jam goals will be to tune the randomness and balance so that more people can have an experience like yours.
Thanks all for the comments!
Great job with this one, I had fun playing through until I got $100k
It's a really cool concept though that definitely takes quite a bit of planning. I'm kind of curious how it would play out though if you slowed the pace down and didn't allow pausing. It might make things more hectic (maybe a different game mode for this?).
The first time I finished, I was a bit disappointed I couldn't keep going after 100k.
After my second play though (when I knew what I was doing), I see why you ended it there.
At that point, I had all the authors I needed to always produce "good" stories. There wouldn't have been much else to do after that.
The names were a bit strange, but I was much more focused on their attributes anyway. I'm guessing all the traits are randomized, but if you continue developing this game, maybe add in a few limitations, so they can't be both pro-conservative AND pro-liberal or things like that. Might make it feel a bit more realistic.
Great game overall, and I especially loved the UI. Very clean.

Also one little niggle, space scrolls the window as well as pausing which was a bit annoying so myabe change the pause button to a different key?
Great job!
Concept is nice, it was fun to play. Good work :)
Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam!
