Consoletris by Aldwin

Hello !

This is my first contribution to Ludum Dare : Consoletris !

consoletris_screen.PNG

Consoletris is a tetris/text-based game made on Unity. You only have a console interface, your memory and a "scan" command to play.

This game was made in 7 hours today, after a first day of Ludum Dare spent working on an aborted boardgame contribution.

All you have to do to play is to unzip the files somewhere and launch consoletris.exe. My sources are my unity "asset" folder.

Enjoy !

Didn't make more than 2 lines ^^

Perhaps you could make an "easy" version with only 8 rows ?
You are a devil but the concept is quite nice!

Thanks for testing !
Yes, it's really a devil game and congrats for making 2 lines :)
The size of the global grid is a variable and easily tweakable, so indeed I should probably make a "difficulty" selection at start.
As I did a "graphic version" for debugging, I could also show the grid each n blocks. Anyway, I could show it at the end of the game to see what you did.

@Aldwin yes that's a cool idea too :)

I was also thinking of asymetric gameplay like "keep talking and nobody explodes", giving visuals and playing with a friend.
Anyway, clever concept

Whoa. I mean, the game is pretty hard, desorientating and there is no escape button. But oh boy, so far this is the game that took the most risks with the theme. The concept is so crazy it's hard not to be impressed. It's a bold choice, and whatever how playable the game is, it's truly a memorable game. Congratulation !

Great approach to the theme! I made some lines too :eyeglasses:
Points would be cool to see :) Of course it's desorientating, but there are some people who play Chess without looking on the board, so how hard Tetris could be  :smirk:

Ha, I had just the same idea for a linux console game 3 years ago but didn't implement it. =D Unity looks a bit overkill for the game like that, but I think you had not much choice in such a limited time. Real fun to play it, dude!

@Toulou Thanks for your comment and for playing !
@Sandra Jasionowska Thanks Sandra ! Yes, a tracking of the points should be implemented. The "blind chess" was indeed an inspiration for this prototype.
@theamazingb Thanks for playing and comment ! Glad some people can play the game without too much difficulties ;)
@Yngvarr Ahaha, yes I was sure some people had this idea :) Indeed, Unity was really overpower and I had to implement a "console" using the UI system ! But it was helpfull to quickly create a graphic debug view of the tetris. Thansk for playing !
