The Last Cup Of Coffee by jin47

[raw]
made by jin47 for LD 39 (COMPO)

Hi all, here is my game for the compo of LD39.

In the game, you are an office worker and there is only one remaining cup of coffee at the office. As everybody knows that without coffee, you won't have enough energy to endure your work, only the last man standing will get to have his Good Ol' Coffee.

Armed with your stappler, nothing will stop you but Don't get touched by the others!!

The game is a TPS, you control with : Mouse to Aim Click to Shoot Arrow or WASD to Move Left Shift to Run

Here are the tools I used for this compo : - Unity - Audacity (sfx) - Bosca Ceoil (Music) - Blender (models)

Itch.io page (WEBGL, Sources and Windows build) : https://jin47.itch.io/the-last-cup-of-coffee

Thank you all for playing and please, don't hesitate to leave me a comment in order to allow me to play your game too.

EDIT: the post compo bugfix reduce the mouse sensitivity and reduce the number of physic bodies emulated for performance (computers and chair won't move anymore).

Cute! I like the music and sound a lot, it really sets the mood. Really nice job with the animations and effects on the staples too.

I never did get that cup of coffee...

Nice work! The open areas were great, but in the tighter rooms the camera kept clipping the wall, making it really hard to see. Mmm, coffee...

Wouldn't have found your game if you didn't comment on mine. I am glad you did! :D
This is a beautiful game. But sometimes I can see the wall. But no problem. Could easily move away.

Loved the concept and the gameplay. The graphics were pleasing and the audio(sound fx and track) were fitting.

10/10 would play again :P

The mouse movement was quite sensitive. I first suspected frame rate problems, but it turned out to be just the over-sensitive mouse movement. But walking was possible in slow pace. Graphics looked ok, and the animations are excellent. But controlling it was slightly difficult.

Hey, thank you all for your feedbacks! They are very much appreciated. @tero-pulkkinen, the mouse sensitivity is definitely a problem on the first build I have adjusted it on the post compo one :)

Agreed with the mouse sensitive, but it's a funny idea ;)

Haven't reached the coffee, but done quite a damage to other coffee zombies :D

Fallen enemy still takes away HP.

Wall obscures camera sometimes.

AI is actually quite ok, for a 48h project. Enemies wander around nicely and engage when close enough && in sight, form what I noticed.

Music is great.

I wish the character pointed at where he is expected to shoot the moment you click fire.

Great walk/run animation! Didn't get to run much though.

Oh, and infinite ammo?! I want that stapler! :D At the beginning I was trying to conserve ammo and found it to be ...unhealthy.

Really impressively done with the 3D graphics. The music reminded me of old wolfenstein. I do wonder if this might have worked better as first person rather than third, trying to fire behind you never felt particularly good and controlling the arm like that I never felt was very intuitive. I like that the staples have a sharp drop off so you have to think about where you're shooting.
Overall very neat, and definitely impressive with the time constraints.

Really fun game, I enjoyed it very much! The graphics are very nice, also with the animations. The audio helps set the mood and the idea is really cool.

Web version does not work for me, when I click continue after the intro text I get:

Lol, very nice game @jin47

Things I liked:

The Models- You did a very nice job creating good low poly models for not only the characters, but the scenery as well. The animations were a nice touch as well.

The Sound- I liked the background music, as well as the sound effects. They helped to complete the mood of the game, and made it feel receptive (I can tell you used Audacity :) Nice work).

The Idea- Honestly, this is one of the more humorous and interesting ideas I have seen the Ludum Dare. Well done on that!

Things I didn't like:

No Mouse Sensitivity Option- I felt like the mouse sensitivity was way too high. I see that you released a new version with lower sensitivity, but I wish you added a sensitivity slider.

Shooting- Because you had unlimited ammo, spamming staples seemed like the best approach because there is no negative to it. I would have liked to seen either limited ammo or a reload mechanic, to add a bit more strategy to the shooting gameplay.

I like what I see. Good luck!

Nice Game. I really loved the animation on the model and I just wanted to run around the level.

I like the simplistic style.
Couldn't reach the coffee. I think it would work better as a FPS - but maybe look less cool.
Good job, congratz!

I liked the animations and look of the game. Had personal trouble playing the game as I use inverted y-axis for camera controls and I didn't see an option for it, didn't let that effect the score though. Was fun!

The gameplay needs some improvements I guess. Maybe a minimap could help to see where enemies are, because they often got me by surprise. It is still very fun and you did a good job with 3D modelling and animation. I tried a bit and I know how hard it is when you're new to it. Well done!

Nice game :) I like animations and models.
I think that sound of damage is a bit too loud.

In addition, despite the fact that stapler is a weapon, it may be good to add repulsion to the killed enemies so that the weapon appears to be more powerful. I think that would be fun.

Ah this is great! I think my favorite thing at first became my least favourite thing as I played for longer. The arm! I love the movement on it and it give the model a surprising amount of character via player input and puppetry... however, once it goes far left and right, the aiming gets lost. Still, amazing job. Really like this and the great use of repeated assets to make an office. Superb!

Sure is a Unity game. You'll figure out what that means one day.
