Don't run out of disk space!

Defend the computer from incoming files.

Shoot lasers out of your robot eyeballs to toast photos and malicious downloads. Crush files with a one-hit-kill melee attack. What file is going to resist a pounding from a huge red robot's devastating mechanical claws? Certainly not your grandma's email attachments.

Collect floppy disks for powerups.

  • Antivirus shield will help defend against malicious files.
  • Blank disk will increase total disk space.
  • Firewall will destroy all downloads on screen.

Controls

Move the red robot with WASD / arrow keys.

Use the mouse to aim and shoot lasers.

P - Pause

M - Mute sound

Notes

This is my first Ludum Dare submission and the first game I have written in 20 years.

Worked alone but would really like an opportunity to collaborate with a 2D artist.

**Simple but Cool!**
Liked the particles and simplistic graphics.

But the sound effects were bit too sharp for my taste..

Pretty simple game but overall well done. The SFX are a bit aggressive.

I liked this game a lot! The power ups were cool, and the controls were smooth. My only criticism is it was too easy.

Nice job. The different items are good. I like the particles when you kill a file.

Cool game, simple and objective. The controls respond well, and I didn't notice any bugs. Some suggestions: add some animation to the robot when it walks, and I think that running towards the files and destroying them immediately was to strong, maybe add a knockback to the robot when the player does it. The particles are nice. About the sound effects, I think that the shots are too loud, it's a bit annoying.

The sound is very loud for me some volume control would be much appreciated also... it crashed

It looks like when i save powerups for later, as soon as i pick up 1 the all disappear? Also when this happened with 3 powerups on the field that's when the game crashed.

Other then it's an interesting spin on the defend genre where hp is memory space. (+points for having html5 build)

Whoops, looks like I wasn't paying attention to variable names in the powerup pickup code. Thanks to @ryunigia for pointing it out.

The sound can be muted with M but since it's such a common criticism I will reduce the volume when I get home.

Clean graphics, smooth gameplay. I beat it on my first attempt but had fun doing so and there is just the right level of challenge. Sound effects got repetitive after a short while, some music would have helped improve the atmosphere significantly. I liked the sprite work and the user interface was easy to understand. The only things I would think could be improved on would be the general 'game feel', a bit more 'juice' on screen to help the player feel connected would go a long way, and maybe a few additional features such as powerups could help expand the gameplay further. All that being said, I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected from the screenshot alone, and I'd probably come back to this one when I had five minutes I wanted to kill. Good work, hopefully I'll see more games from you in the future!

Sooooo close, ran out of disk space right at 4/4 wave. Really had fun playing it.

Graphics and sound effects are great. The whole game gives me this old arcade feeling.

A touch too easy. I held onto my firewalls until needed.

Confusing Babe reference.

Will play again.
