Save as much cities as you can from the rapidly spreading infection. Sacrifice cities, contain water ways, place quarantines and contain the virus.

Downfall is a simplistic puzzle game, where you can place quarantine on tiles to contain the infection. Beware of the severs which can quickly spread the virus over long distances, industry zones which spreads the virus farther, and rivers that quickly spreads the virus along the way.

Dude this game is one of my favourites ! Good job !

Great game! The mechanic is simple but flexible, made for some challenging puzzles. The game matches the theme. The graphics are nice and more importantly, clear. I did find myself naturally selecting the red highlighted spaces, only to realise that I can click anywhere.

Overall, the game is well polished. Awesome job!

@clayrok Thanks for your kind words, this means a lot to us. @jongjo Oh I understand, yea the red highlighted space means the infection is going to spread there next, I feel its a very likely misconception that we havent thought about initially :).

@pierkwadrat Thank you, currently we have 24 levels with 5 types of hazardous environment, so we had quiet a playground to play with designing levels. @janwalsh Thanks for your comment, there is always a way to save 3 cities in each level, so searching for better strategies is always awarded! :)

Cool! Every level is more challenging than the previous one. I love the progression and the different kind of tiles that show up over time. Good job!

@theog Thanks a lot, we tried to balance out the progression as much as we can. @earlybard we wanted to make the game easy, but we also wanted to reward the players that go for better - more optimized solutions.

The best game so far I have played from this ludum dare! The levels are simplistic but really good and the mechanic can create interesting puzzles, I also like the graphic and audio! Only thing I miss is some kind of tutorial or help guide lines from start so people know what to do, I jump right in to the game and after a while I had to scroll down to the text to find out how the game is working... But I still love it!

This game was really innovative and quite challanging. I wasn't able to get three stars of in all levels. Planing ahead of time on what cities to sacrifice in order to make most of them survive at the end was the most interesting part for me. It felt so mean as well (deciding the fate of entire cities), I loved it. Game mechanics introduced as the game progresses were cool and complied with each other nicely. Great game :)

@gordy wow thanks a lot for your kind words, we tried to not use words to explain mechanics, which didn't work that well I suppose. Lots of feedback shows confusion about some mechanics. @martynas @m3rcurial92 thanks a lot! :) @tosunami im sure it has a lot to polish - work on until it becomes publishable, but I hope this could be a good step towards it ! @verbante Thanks for your kind words, and thanks for creating such a great game yourself! @captainweeaboo Thank you, we wanted to clearly depict giving up sacrifices for a cause! @goldenmelon @matheus-mello thanks for playing!

Good game ! The art style is really cool too ! Only thing I would of done different is to block the player from trying the next level until he finishes the one he is currently working on. All in all good job guys !

@drcheetos Thank you, we wanted to make the game easier for the jam. We allow players to pass the level if they save at least 1 city, which should be really easy. But if you are in it for a real challenge you can save 3 cities in every level. :)

Nice polished game with simple, yet clever mechanic, liked the simple visuals too :) Only thing that was little anoying was a short music loop. Otherwise well done :)

@jantaaa thank you. You are completely right about the music loop. I think its the most urgent problem the game has.

Awesome mechanics, really enjoyed this puzzle game :D
Also managed to get 3 stars on all of them^^
Only tiny thing that could be improved: detect, if all cities were lost, even if the infection could still spread^^ That would save a bit of time and clicking, if you screw up (those rivers are really mean XD)

Argh I'm absolutely stuck at the fifth level, no matter what I do I can't save three cities. I'd love to see more but for now it's pretty great! The triangulated patterns on the tiles are a nice touch, also I love hexagons so this speaks to me on a deep level. I wish I could say more, I'll edit if I ever get unstuck. Congratulations nonetheless :)
EDIT: Hell yeah I just beat the fifth level!

@awix Thank you for playing, your games very nice too, really liked the aesthetics. @lucien-catonnet haha, level 5 is a tricky one, try to reconsider your first move, you can play on spaces that are not red as well (its a misconception lots of players had). Its also good to hear there are more fellow hexagon lovers in ldj <3 haha!

@fluffi thank you for playing, I am completely with you with the music problem, we opted out of music for that reason too :(. @denifia thank you, start screen was arqcenicks work (our programmer), and it turned out awesome! @svntax Thank you, we tried to make the pacing well, we have few level that comes off harder like level 5. @lazertrax thank you, since we had lots of puzzle pieces the level design was fun, and levels turned out well. :)

Wow! Blown away. This was great. Really loved all the art and puzzles. We played through all the levels, that last one was hard! There should be a quicker way to reset, and I would have loved a level selection menu.
🎤 Dorukh
08. Dec 2018 · 17:09 UTC
@treslapin Thank you for playing ! Yea the reset maybe a bit of a hustle to press, you have to press the menu button than reset, it should be right on the screen. Last level is a bit tricky. It started from me trying to recreate Central London's map, and it turned out to be a really hard level. :D A level selection menu would be a good step up, I agree.

Very polished entry. The level design is interesting and I’d have liked to retry some levels in order to save 3 cities, but I could not find a way to retry the current level; is there a level browser or something like that?

26. Dec 2018 · 14:10 UTC
@samh Thank you for playing, Yes, we have a menu at the top right corner of the screen. You can go back or forward levels from there, and we have a retry button as well there. I see that tho, how it is a bit hard to find. Thank you for the helpful feedback.
