Great art style and interesting controls. I wish there was something in game that explained the controls it took me a while to figure out how to shoot.

The controls were an interesting choice not sure why you did it like that. The art style looks good. The pixel font is really hard to read

Interesting game with a good artistic style. But I'm not sure I understand the goal because we could pass after even if we lost almost all his ships. Good work anyway !

What stood out for me was the music, but then I saw you got it from somewhere else. It's a bit of a shame that what makes the game pop isn't something you made yourself.

It took me a while to understand what was going on, but after that I only had two problems. The first was that there wasn't really a way to dodge enemy attacks and shoot them at the same time unless I gave up durability on the big ships. The second one was that the map is so big and I keep hearing my big ships get destroyed but have no clue where, perhaps some visual indicator pointing towards a damaged big ship could help out here?

Over all I like the concept. For the next time using outside assets is totally fine, just make sure they don't put a dampening on your own work, which is what we are here for after all.

Music is just 11/10, i can listen to it all day long.
The game needed some particles and its a bit hard to know where are the enemies are, so a radar or minimap will be nice.
It took so long to get the mechanics, it really needs a tutorial

Game is cool, wish I could hold space instead of mashing it to accelerate, especially since the bullets push you back.

Thank you all for the feedback, i really appreciate it!
I added a new version of the game on the itch.io page, the new things i've added are:

If a ship gets damaged then an arrow indicator will popup that points at which ship is getting damaged.
I made the enemy bullets slower so you can dodge them.
If 10 ships gets destroyed then you lose.
And i added a tutorial page with all the new controls etc.

You need to change the font, it's too low res it's difficult to read even full screen. The art felt pretty polished. Space looked quite nice in this game. The shooting sound effects were well picked. I wasn't too sure of the controls, you may need to try and find a less crampy scheme. I can tell you needed more time on this but it's solid for what there is.

@call-me-nutty thank you, and I agree that my control scheme isn't really good and the overall game isn't good but I did my best and hopefully learned from my mistakes.

The recoil is an interesting effect, but I think it's a bit too strong.

It took me a few retries to get the shift key to work, maybe that has todo with my Windows settings.

Another small issue is that (the menu on) the Game Over screen didn't seem to work for me; in order to retry, I had to quit the game and restart.

You're off to a decent start, but this game will need some reworks before it can truly shine!

_ETA: Don’t forget to rate others! It’d be a shame if your game ended up w.o. a rating!_

There is no Linux build there at the link although you tagged it. I know I shouldn't score unrunnable entries, so I won't, but this is NOT OK.
