Leonardo Montes' DUNKIRK by Repusv

You are a english pilot during World War II. Defend the ships and fight the axis by destroying their planes and bombers before they destroy yours !
Form a squadron by recruiting other pilots on the fly* ! But be careful, you are not invicible and you are running out of fuel (and your allies too) !
This is procedural ! For every new game, the battlefield is different !

There is a tutorial ingame. You can also see the inputs for XBox controller and keyboard in the options.
Theme : You are running out of fuel -fuel powers your plane-, and man-power as your allies are gradually leaving the battlefield -because men are what power this war-.
Xbox controller is advised but not required. I've made the keyboard controls for AZERTY, usually you can switch from QWERTY to AZERTY using ALT+SHIFT.
Obviously inspired by DUNKIRK (2017).
MADE FOR LUDUM DARE #39, "Running out of power", JAM (72h), I made everything exept the music and a couple of SFXs. If you want the source code tell me ! It's about 0,5Go (few hours to upload that's why it's not already available).
- : solo game, other pilots are controlled by an AI.

Want to play :(
For the theme fuel is what power the plane, and people are what power the war; I don't know if you noticed but the allied planes also run out of fuel and start quitting the battlefield, so you are losing "man-power" :)
The controls are impossible on PC and tough even with a pad as there doesn't seem to be any way to invert the vertical movement axis, which my brain seems to require.
The AI planes exhibit erratic movement patterns, much unlike the smooth playable plane and such make for needlessly hard targets. The axis/ally indicator seems to be broken too. It showed 0 allies, but there were a bunch of them around.
Lastly I wasn't even close to running out of fuel when exiting the battle. That too was missing from the authentic **DUNKIRK**:tm: experience.
Valiant effort nonetheless. Top marks on visuals and atmosphere.
@huvaakoodia You can exit the battle whenever you want ! Or you can fight and protect until you crash in the water.
For the controls, I'm sorry, I didn't have enough time to add options like inverting axis or making the enemies planes fly very accuratly (I rather had working but not very realistic enemies than broken enemies falling in the water all the time :) ). This is obvioulsy not a simulation x) but thanks anyway for the feedback !
The enemy fighters are hard to shoot down, due to their strange, wiggling flying patterns. A crosshairs may have helped. The music fits well. I haven't seen the film, so don't know how it compares. Clearer objectives would have been better, I didn't know whether I just had to shoot the enemy bombers or destroy all the fighters as well. Being able to look around with the camera would have been nice, but I understand that camera controls can take a while to make well.
Overall, a great game.
