Jumping didn't work for me so I couldn't complete the first level. Was a simple little bullet hell, with a cool twist that you could hide behind those boxes. Would like to see the movement improved, but it was fun for what time you had!

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it.
Jumps are very low and work mostly in movement if you have enough velocity. Anyway, their purpose only to bring more variety and dynamics to the gameplay. They are far far away from perfect to make them as basis for the core mechanics.

Btw, here are some of my 'jumpthrough' which I made during the playtests

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! I looked for the games that used the #LDJAM but I don't find yours. So good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!

@roy87 I don't have an indiexpo page for this moment (only itch.io). But I'll definitely create this one, too.
Thank you for the review!

Graphics looked quite trippy. Bullet hell in 3D with physics is pretty cool though, I'd give you that. However, it feels a little hard to control where the movement is too sensitive. A little hard to place the main character as well, as its just a teeny oblong.

I'm a fan of bullet hell-ish games (and also a Touhou player) and one in 3D is a pretty good idea. The graphics were fine, but I have some suggestions to improve the game overall.

First of all (and you're not the first, I've been saying this for many, MANY 3D games in this event), I would love to be able to rotate the camera. The vision gets limited if I can't do that.

Second, spamming shots by clicking is gonna make the user's fingers tired eventually. This is a fairly hard game, and you have to expect that maybe the player is a tryhard gamer and he wants to play the run over and over again, until he beats it. For that kind of guy. if he could just hold the mouse button and keep shooting, it'd be so much better because his fingers wouldn't be fried at the end.

Finally, the player is hard to control. It seems like you made a rigid body with physics simulation, but for that kind of game I like using a kinematic so that his speed is constant and the player can control it better. I think this is necessary because the dodges here are very precise.

There are some other minor things, like invincibility frames that could help at playability if you were using them, and the soundtrack, it's by no means bad, but it just sounded unfitting (to be honest it's kinda fitting but a little sarcastic if you know what I mean)

Anyway, congratulations for this LD run. I hope I wasn't too harsh, but I believe that mechanics trump content, and with more polished mechanics this game has so much potential for LD. If you have the time and patience I recommend doing a post-jam version and publishing it separately.

I like the game's visuals as well as the straightforward controls, but the acceleration is way off. The player accelerates violently and takes too long to slow down, the bullets start with zero velocity when they really should start at full speed. It makes moving and shooting really difficult.

Like the concept but the controls are really difficult to manage. Its all way too quick and there are way too many bullets from the getgo.
So the game itself is good, fun and challenging but it needs to be polished a little bit to make it more enjoyable.

I beat it at the 4th try btw ^^

Hey I streamed your game last night, and I would love to give my two cents :yum:

It's great seeing a 3D Bullet Hell, I really think theres way too many 2D ones

Some quick hotfixes that would really help the game would be having the HP as bars at the top - It was hard to keep track with the bullets everywhere and the Boss HP was even harder (doesn't even have to be that - maybe change colour from light to dark, opaque to transparent) would really help give the user some feedback from the game.

A feature this game would be great having would be upgrades, either given from the boxes or frfom beating the bosses - maybe to improve my shot, maybe to duplicate my characters.

Challenging, but I had fun playing! So great work :yum: just needs a tad bit more polish!

I will admit, I have a distaste for bullet hell games. However, I feel this game is significantly lacking in the sort of game-feel "juice" needed to make it enjoyable. Movement feels far too slidy and shooting is not enjoyable (partly due to the way the bullets travel, partly due to one-click-fire, and partly due to mediocre sound design).

The art rocks !
@jegus9 pretty much said everything.
Just being able to hold the mouse button to shoot would improve the general feeling.
Also, I feel like having just bosses instead of lots of weak enemies is a really big scope and super hard to make in a game jam ! Maybe trying to make an easier game would hide the things you didn't have the time to make !

Nice little game you have here! I really like the graphics and the Music!
Unfortunately The player is really hard to control. Idk if this was on purpose but it makes everything feel weird. Also the player health UI rotates with the player so its upside down most of the time. Other than that great game!

Check out my game if you like!

Funny little game, but the movement were really hard to grasp ^^ In the end, I just used the good old technique of mashing the mouse button and hoping it works X)

Nice! Really hard (I couldn't beat more than 3 enemies) but a pretty fun game. The only thing I would improve is the controls and maybe add some powerups to make the game more interesting.

The graphics looks really nice! Unfortunately the web version just a little choppy for me, will try the downloadable later!

Interesting game. Really like the concept. The only thing I would change is the controls, it's a bit hard to control the player, it moves too fast. Or maybe the idea is for it to be difficult :p

Had some fun with it but couldn't defeat the 3rd enemy (lack of skill).

Great work!

We’d love if you tried our game and saved Christmas! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/santas-factory
