Simply astonishing! I haven't got a slightest idea how you managed to release that as a part of LD, but the amount of hand-drawn sprites and background elements, written dialogue lines and composed music + gameplay randomisation deserves highest respect. This is probably the best LD entry I've played in a while, and I'm quite surprised how this has no comments so far.

You also need to add a few screenshots to your LD page, otherwise people won't notice it at all!

@eveningwayward Thank you for your feedback! The reason the game is getting little attention is because I haven't had time to rate games myself. I will certainly add some screenshots.

Ok mate :

Your game is purely astonishing for a jam game. it is really polished as heck, the graphic style is so clean ! It remings me a little of Game Dev Story, but it's a jam game , and hell if it's an achievement ! There is a bunch of funny dialogue lines, and different npc's , honestly, the game's great. Not much to say : Congrats. I suggest you to start rating a whole lotta games out there, I swear it works ! And like you said in your post above, add somegifs or screenshots, and a nice cover to your game, it's graphically very appealing and i promise you you'll have a ton of plays and positive feedbacks. good job !

From what I got to play before it crashed on me, it was really nice. I really like the art style.

My machine is Win10 64bit, below is the crash for reference.

This game fucking bizarre and I love it.

Seriously its somewhat surreal, genuinely funny (I literally laughed out loud when I lost "Ima kill you cuz you made me wait too long!"), and definitely stands out.

For real though I cannot overstate how interesting this game is. I usually have a strong strong urge to skip over dialogue but I was actually into it. Its even more interesting that psychologically I was drawn to actually wanna read these quirky little quips when clearly the best strategy is to just skip every dialogue prompt since you dont have to let it scroll to the end to get credit for talking. Only two games recently have made me interesting in reading for reading's sake and those are The Beginners Guide and Undertale... and now Close friends.

I was going to make a comment about replayability being low since my instinct was to wanna quit when I lost but I did give it another go just to see what was up and it seems there is some random or pseudo-random nature to the phrases so you aren't seeing the EXACT same stuff over and over.

Seriously charming.

Probably the first time that I've ever had a chair ask me where it put it's hat! Good game.

Cool idea for a jam game. Nice little scope, pretty well polished, and easy to figure out without over-explaining itself. A+ would make many close friends again.

Your art and audio are awesome! Gameplay could use a few more mechanics for my blood but as far as the theme is concerned this was spot on. Excellent submission :D

Cool idea and really nice art. Personally I found the mechanics a bit boring and repetitive, but overall the game is solid and has a lot of charm. Good work.

15 at least. very cool take on the to many friends theme also graphics and sound feel very welcoming. only the slow movement made me a bit angry but that's part of the game I guess

This is one of the best games I've played on Ludum Dare. I love the game idea -- it's unique and fits the theme very well. Also, the music, art, and humor were perfect. Great entry!

A lot of different and interesting conversations, but given the nature of the game (talk to as many as possible in short time), it made me skip the dialogs just to get a higher score. Perhaps the game could pause it self while reading, so that the player gets to enjoy all the conversations?

Also, great work on the graphics.

Played this nice game on a recent live twitch feed: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/208824772?t=00h03m43s Nicely done. I loved the surprise (won't spoil it here). Awesome art and animations and I liked the fast up the ladder.
