I really liked your music! Did you used Bosca Ceoil?
I'm thinking of this of a post-jam game where you can exp through the map killing weak monsters but hiding from those that are too strong, and also choose a faction to conquest the continent!

Plz do a post-jam game, the "one map, one character as head" + rpg is really nice!

@memel06 Thank you! I used a free asset off the Unity Asset store by Fancy Lizard Studio. XD But I would love to make my own music for the game!
That's exactly what I'm going for!! :D I'm really looking forward to adding more content and perfecting gameplay!

I think the game is a nice concept, yet the execution isn't great. At the moment it is just collecting the enemies and gaining a level everytime you do so. I would've added like some experience bar, some form of health with that some form of combat just to make it more attractive to the player. I think this could become a fun game if you put more time in it!

@darkanice I'm hoping to add some more concepts by the end of the jam in 9 hours! :) I started this game technically a day late, so it's not too exciting yet, I know :p

I'm not going to rate it yet because it's not finished so make sure to @ me once it is. I think the art is super cute and you picked a nice tune for the music as well! The idea sounds really cool to me and I can't wait to see what it turns into!

Some things I was confused on
-Does the player have health?
-Can I interact with the small towns and stuff? It would be cool if they gave you quests (but understandable if this is out of your scope)
-Is there a point to leveling up?

Again good game so far and I can't wait to see the final product!

Thanks, and I'll let you know when the full version is up @gavin-camlin!
-The player dies if he tries to defeat a baddie that has a higher level than him. I just added that to the game. ^-^

-The small towns will soon have more characters in it, and if you return to the city, the girl will talk with you about random stuff and suggest missions and items to find! Working on that now!

-Leveling up currently only changes your Level (top right) and your Title (top left). You grow from the Baker's Son, to Adventurer, to Knight, to Hero.

-I also just added progressive leveling up, so it's harder to gain levels. :) In about 5 hours, I should have the last Ludum build up, hopefully with two or three items/missions!

Didn’t get as much done as I wanted to (*coughcough water collision*) due to a business dinner, but I got the latest build up just before times up on Ludum!

ADDED:
-Break the Boulder Quest
-Receive an Item from 1 townsfolk
-Progressive level gain gives you a better Title
-More sounds

COMING SOON:
-Water Collision
-Health levels instead of Instant Death and respawn
-More cities
-More characters
-More quests
-Specific areas = Specific countries!
-Join a faction!

Honestly, you guys have been so supportive, and I’ve been so inspired, I’ll be keeping the project going after Ludlum!

Last minute additions/changes!!

FIXED BUG:
Bad guy levels now show correctly and you will take damage if they are a higher level than you.

ADDED: Health hearts instead of just instant death

I like the concept, and I'm sorry you weren't able to get more done in the allotted time. I did find one thing that isn't on your to do list -- the character can travel off the screen and keeps going.

I think this came out really well! One thing I would suggest is giving a little more feed back for when the player takes damage, maybe like a sound effect or some screen shake. I like the little extra stuff you added in, the guy in the forest made me laugh. You might wanna add a little bit more of a combat mechanic but besides that I think this is a really solid game! Great job!

Thanks for playing, @James-dunlap! That is a very interesting bug indeed! I'll add it to my fix-it list.

@fernando-labarta @darylsteak, thanks for playing! There's a lot of room for growth, but I have a LOT more planned to be added to it in the next week or so, including several quests and more characters. Now that I have the base code down for how that works, it'll be a lot easier to add more!

@gavin-camlin thanks for revisiting the game and giving more feedback! I will definitely add more effects to character damage (it has a sound, but it turned out way quieter than it should be).
Interesting on Combat. I guess I kept it as simple as possible for now. I'll put some thought into it and see what I can do! I'll @ you if the itchio upload gets updated.

Hi I thought I could give you a little tip on graphics, when working with pixel art, try to get the pixels unified. So for example my character is 10px high, how high would be a castle next to him. So basically sense of scale. I know that in some rpg's on a map you get bigger characters and everything is small, but still a pixel size from a castle is the same size as the pixels on characters. It just looks more unified that way. I like the portraits tho :)

I ran out of stuff to do pretty quickly, but the the mechanics were interesting once I figured out it was a numbers game. I'd say adding more content and some limits (so I can't walk through the oceans) would be pretty handy here, but it was a pleasant experience overall as is. Nice work!

Thanks for playing, @morrilet! I'm really looking forward to adding some more mechanics, and definitely water mechanics!

@redhatto I agree, a unified pixel count looks better. But when dealing with a single-screen open world, I definitely needed space on the map. It'll make more sense when I add the country borders, why the castle needs to be so small, but the character needs to be big enough to see. :)

Nice mood, sound and graphics. I liked the idea of Leveling combats: it's simple but it works so good and does the game experience more dinamic :)
Great work!
