@maxkostovich Something very central to the game is "Running out of Power" ;)

By far the best game I've played so far. The art style feels nice and meshes together with the music and the dialogue to a very cozy and charming atmosphere and environment. Very nicely done.

I'm reminded a lot of a game called [Loop](http://www.nitrome.com/jam/games/loop/), but instead, this is determined by the order in which you visit places. As expected from a DDRKirby entry, the music is done well; it seems like there are a lot of different sounding tracks that really liven the mood and overall really fit with this art style.

Storywise, it's a very simple game, but I found myself enjoying the characters the most. I enjoyed their aesthetic and the cute nods to humour. If there's one thing I had to nitpick, I guess I found that the plot didn't really make a whole lot of sense. The same day keeps repeating over and over, so how does the protagonist remember the safe code (which I had acquired in the night of that same day) before the day begins? Why does the protagonist end up losing the key when the day starts over? And the other animals seem to not have any recollection of the day repeating? I just found that part doesn't really make any sense. But perhaps I'm just thinking too hard about it all. :P Oh yeah, and how does a music box run out of power, anyway?

Aside from this, yeah, this was a nice sit with great visuals and audio to boot.

Great art&music and just the right amount of trial and error needed to solve the time loop. I agree that the theme didn't feel as well incorporated as it could be, and the art on the overworld map just didn't have the same level of polish and aesthetics as the rest of the game, but everything else is top notch. Awesome work!

Hi! I played your previous entry Raven Delivery Service last Ludum Dare and just had to check out what you would be doing this time around. That art style of The Music Box is unique and ties in with the music extremely well to make a very soothing and cozy atmosphere. I don't know if you actually recorded all the in-game sounds but they were great. Keeping the player engaged with only text, interactables and sound is hard, yet you made it work! At first, I didn't know that I only had to see the safe code once and it would carry over, but after playing some more I eventually figured it out. Fantastic and professional entry overall.

Beautiful game. I love how you built your story around the theme. Very nice graphics and music. Good job (as always actually)!

A nice surprise of a game!

Graphics and music really fit the story and the story really fits the theme.

I really liked figuring the steps I had to take to finish the game. There are some details that could be improved, but the overall quality of the game is really high.

Hi there! A very nice entry here!

I think the game is very polished, the art is beautiful, the whole look and feel too (chat bubbles, colors...).

I love the main character and I love he/she don't have arms, looks very interesting (like our Olympic Games pet in Barcelona, Petra 😉) and the walk animation is cool. Music is very nice too, you have many melodies and this is a lot of work for doing in a Jam. Well done!

I'm curious about the world creation process, is that a world you created for this game ad-hoc because I think is quite deep with a lot of characters. Anyway, is very cool!

Very nice graphics! I loved the texture and brush used.

I feel like it's kind of a missed oportunity to create an original universe; the characters are cool, but the world seems a bit bland compared to them. Anyways, you have a nice start there!

This is beautiful! You really got me with those graphics... and the music Oh! the music. The concept and the gameplay are really nice.

The only thing I will complain is the world map, it doesn't feel like is the same game. I believe you will polish it more in the post-jam, so is not a big deal.

Wonderful game guys.

Has a very Night In The Woods feel to it (and I'm sure that was a conscious decision). Super polished as always. :) If I had to nitpick, it would be:
1. The music box rewinding animation at the end of each day annoyed me a bit, since it's unskippable.
2. The giraffe looked angry, heh.

But otherwise, solid entry - graphics, mood and audio are on point! I have mixed feelings about the story - while I do like it, I have a nagging feeling that I missed out on something (like a point or a message). Or is it just about ending the loop and that's it?

A very cute and nostalgic-feeling entry, the game was pretty comfy overall. I loved the art style, and that the music in each area changed depending on the current time.

I liked this quite a lot, the gameplay wasn't anything new but what's here is very well made. It's always 6:00 in the character's house though!

Amazing game! It was a nice break from most of the action games that I've played so far. It wasn't too hard and the story was very nicely done. I really liked the extra tidbits of info that were not necessarily useful but made the world seem more alive and real (though I would have liked to know exactly why Principal Mustadio created the time loop, or does he just like making the students suffer?). The music is very good as well, as it creates an enjoyable atmosphere for the game. This has to be one of the most polished games I've seen so far for LD39 (Especially with being able to hide under the tables like an actual cat!) The creators did an exceptional job!

That was nice and relaxing! All the artwork was so amazing and the overall characters design and personality was pretty incredible. Lovely sound track that sets the mood nicely and all of the implementation was smooth with no hiccups, superbly done!

My only gripe was having to go back for the key, I missed it as I assumed I already had it as the code for the safe passed over from the day before (but I guess that isn't a physical item and it wouldn't be possible...) but that is more my stupid brain not realising I guess.

Great job :grinning:

I love the strange and laid-back walk animation that somehow makes and meshes with the mood of the art and music. The humor, mood, and feel meshes well. Game is simple, but definitely makes me feel right in leaning back on the couch, keyboard in hand, and moseying about (just like the character)!

Didn't even realize this was a DDRKirby release until I read the comments! It's good to see long-time people still participating in Ludum Dare, it encourages me to keep on joining these (especially after the last string of failures I had). Keep at it!

Ok, this was adorable. The artstyle was just so appealing, the music fitting, and the story simple, yet compelling. It... it felt like it all came together really well.

The gameplay was simple, yet it didn't felt boring. The world was interesting enough to keep you interested, and the "three phases" of the day added some nice depth to keep you exploring and finding new combinations. You begin your first day not knowing how anything works at all, but by the second time you wake up you've got your objective clear and can grasp how the game works.

My only complain, altough it isn't a big thing... i would have appreciated to know which objects i was carrying. The second time i woke up, i had no idea if i still had the key, so i wasted my morning going back to the school again and, therefore, the whole day, since i couldn't progress any further. It was made clear after that the inventory was lost, but it made the "figuring how the game works" twice as long, and it felt less like "ok, you've got the basics, go explore".

Overall, it is a really, really good game. Even if it can be short, you can spend quite a lot of time exploring if you wish in this charming world.

Charming. That's the word i was looking for. That how i would describe this game.
Good job!

Great game. The music fits perfect to the art style. I like the way how the text in bubble was shown.
But to the beginning I don't figured out who the antagonist is. At first I thought it has to be the crow because he wants to teach the students one day more and more and more ... xD
I enjoyed the the gameplay. Thanks guys. :)

That was great. The music and art are awesome. I like the game concept a lot. The time loop idea made exploration very fun. Overall, It is a really good and fun game, I like it a lot. The main map can be enhanced though since it is a bit inconsistent with the rest of the art style.

I really love this game! But this is probably because I'm an adventure games lover since a long time, and this one have poetry, cute original art, music, dialogs and whole mood. I like the take of the theme, too. I didn't think this could be use to make a "Groundhog Day" situation, but now that I have seen it, it's making sense! Very well done, It was really fun to play this one! Thank you!

This is a truly adorable entry, while it didn't take very long for me to figure out the right approach the gameplay idea, story and characters all seem very well thought out. The mood seemed to be the best part of this game thought, the cute art style combined with the music was really heart warming. I would love to see a post jam version where the story is expanded upon a little (why does the music box do this? Does the principal know and why does he act that way?)

Very beautiful game! Loved the graphics and the music, gave a unique feeling to the game. As others have said it'd nice to get some insight on the story because it lacks some depth right now (what's the role of the school's principal in all of this?) and it was confusing sometimes because the game has no HUD, so i didn't know you had to pick the items again (i mean i should've imagined it since the game is in a loop, but i had to repeat a day because i didn't have the key).
Good job overall!

It's a very nice game! I liked the story. It's simple and yet very charming thanks to the lovely audio the painerly styled graphics. And the morning/afternoon/evening scheme makes it interesting to visit all places at different times of day.

Am I the only one who thinks this game is like "Night in the Woods" meets "The Groundhog Day"? I love it!
The art style is unique, the sound effects and music are good and the idea is very original.

The duration is perfect for a compo/jam game, but I didn't see the theme in there (maybe when you fix the music box is when you loose power??), still a great game!

Good job!

This was really cohesive and the characters' dialogue was very well written! You guys just gained a fan! I need to go check out your other Ludum Dare games now :grinning:

One minor thing is that the map + bus graphics looked a bit rough and out of place compared to the rest of the game.

Why is it always 6:00 in my room? :-)

Wow, this is an impressive feat for 72 hours, you really created something unique here!

I love just everything about this game, the art style, that you have cute animals for protagonists, the music and how it changes depending on where you are, giving you a hint for example that the principal is evil. Also the transitions, especially the morning sun transition! This is a simple effect to program and yet it provides so much value, incredible!

I love how the story unfolds, I had to play through 10 or 15 times to finally make it. Cool idea that you cannot finish this play in the first go, because of the janitor only giving you the combination at that specific time, this let me know that my character, as I myself, can actually remember what happened in previous days and it is not just a restart of the game but that he is really stuck in a time loop.

The audio is fantastic, the background noise in the restaurant - man this makes it come to life, the voices make the place crowded even when there are really only two to four characters in it. Perfect choices for music and sound effects.

Overall this is just a perfect game, I am deeply impressed by what you managed to do in a 72 hour game jam!

PS: I just now read your description, so you fixed the 6:00 thing :-)

Ps no 2: The fact that I did not need to read your instructions is a huge plus as well, the game makes it clear what to do, self-explanatory and intuitive to control - great job!

The mood, graphics, audio all shine in this entry. A skillfully crafted Ludum Dare entry. Checks all the boxes. I am not into such games, but this game was really short, simple and fun. It will definitely be in the list of winners of this LD.

A cool little game.
The art and mood were great, the audio was ok.
The gameplay was a little boring though.. everything was kinda obvious and the plot/story itself wasn't really engaging or believable. For example the book was making stuff up (duh its a different world) but I wasn't immersed and it just sounded silly. Also the fact that the narration has no real explaination to it.. like what is the source of the music box? Who are our characters? They felt pretty generic (their graphics isn't their weak point though) and so on...
So I'd say it's quite user-friendly and cool but it can be improved; nonetheless for 72 hours - good job =)

The audio is the most impressive part of the game. Graphics is also really nice and consistent style throughout. Character design was well done. The game was pretty straightforward once you got the idea behind it, but the theme felt a little shoe-horned. Nice groundhog style setting though.

That is rather nice. The game was very intuitive to play and reminded me a little of [Puzzle Agent](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puzzle_Agent). I felt that the music and art worked very well together, and the story was intriguing. My only criticism is that the importance of the music box could have been woven into the story a bit more seamlessly - once I was made aware of it, the game really became just a quest to find the things that I needed to get to the music box.

Great entry, loved the art in this and the walk animation looked great. Really nice design which was complimented by the music. The story was a nice interpretation of the theme which worked well, liked that as you played and replayed you had more information so slowly learnt the order that you needed to visit things. Also liked that you did a post jam version where you added the nice little touches of just being able to interact your character with more objects such as the table and chairs. Thought that helped in adding more character.

Extremely good for a jam game, congratulations! Audiovisuals create a very nice mood. I enjoyed just walking around, giggling at funny banana references, hiding under the table. My motivation was too low to solve the time loop, but I got my fun. Thanks for the game!

Awesome! The graphics & music are really great. Great sound design too, the little menu noises and other sound effects really add to the mood. I love how the music box winding down ends on a minor chord, that's a great touch. Pretty solid gameplay-wise, I like how the little details explain the situation without having to obviously spell it out. My only gripe is that it took me a while to find the safe combination - obvious in retrospect, but trying to find it just felt like trial and error. Some more clues or a more staightforward path there might be good. Still it was fun to explore - wish there was more stuff to do! Awesome work! :D

Really nice entry! I thought the art style was really nice in it's UPA minimalism. I liked the premise for the game but actually rated the game low in theme. I definitely saw this more as running out of time which I feel as if you made this concept during theme choosing and you committed to it. This didn't really impact how I rate you anywhere else though and I thought you created a fantastic jam entry. The music was also really appealing and the mood was solid! Nice work!

Thanks for your feedback on my game (especially the bit about the credits). That was definitely a problem I've addressed! On my game description page, plus multiple points of credits now. First time I put the game together, I forgot to put ~any~ credits at all X_x

Good luck with your latest release! It was a fun little adventure game to play. Just downright chill in the right ways to me.
