Seriously though, absolutely fantastic! Everything from the music, the sound, the graphics, to the dialog was right on point. I'm impressed. The way you handle the dialog, where it starts when you look at a townsperson and continues where you left off, that's amazing. You nailed the theme too.
BTW, in the "low" performance version, I was unable to use WASD to move. I had to reload and pick the high performance version.
Every time i missed a shot i felt a little bad for the bullet friends, it just lack a lose condition.
I considered having the enemies attack you (the player), but I worried about whether people would feel too rushed/endangered to pay attention to any dialogue.
@mattwagar I'll give you the run down!
1. Friend scripts determine which Friend (bullet) if any the player is close to/looking at.
2. Each Friend keeps track of their dialogue progress (number of characters so far in current string as well as which string we're on). The focused Friend gets to progress these numbers.
3. The UI detects that there is a Friend in focus, and asks it for its current 'display string' (a subset of the current dialogue)
This ends up making it so each character keeps a bookmark on its dialogue basically- hope that was helpful!
And I have to love the detail when you shoot them into the sky xD
nice nentry!!! :^)
