AA City by Raogs

[raw]
made by Raogs for LD 39 (COMPO)

Description

In AA City you have to charge the Batteries so the City has electricity. To do so you move a Drill with Snake-like movement and search for Oil pockets to pump.

Your score increases the more Oil you pump, but more Pumping = more Power usage. If you pump more Oil than the Generator uses/all Batteries are chargegd your Score will increase faster.

Also includes online Highscores so you can beat mine if you want to.

Nice game, the only thing - how could you power city with batteries? :P

I struggled with this one a little. I seem to die really quickly because the city runs out of power.

Great idea though, very unique.

Like the game. Is it only me or is the controls inverted?? Great job!

Loved the humor whenever you ran out of power or destroyed a pipe. Only thing I would say is simply use controls like a snake game instead of using just left and right. Pretty neat game!

took me a while to realise the controls were clockwise and anti clockwise rather than right or left, but i liked the overall presentation of the gameplay

Pretty fun game! Controls got me for a second, but an interesting twist. I liked the take on the theme, simple but good!

I beat your score :P Interesting game! The beginning is the hardest part. I think starting with a bar or two of oil and allowing the player to figure out that draining it will keep them alive would help. I also think having the oil puddles go away (when being drilled) faster and placing more on the map would help keep the game more interesting as you play past the first minute or two. After I had a few puddles of oil it felt like I couldn't lose. I'm sure you have thought of many things you can add (buying storage upgrades, increasing energy consumption over time, etc). But for 48 hours it was great!

Thank you all for your Feedback.
I just updated it and took your advice to change the controls to classic Snake controls.
@erebus thanks for the detailed information i took your advice and changed things around accordingly, though i had to reset the scoreboard for that but i will leave your first place screenshot on here.

That was a neat little game! Controls were a little confusing at first, but if you think of it like Snake it becomes much easier to manage. I was a little confused as to how to operate the power generator, I couldn't quite seem to get the handle on that, other than that, it was a very nice neat little game! Keep up the great work! :)

Fun little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_RV8hzvGH4

Ah man, I really wish the map was smaller so I actually had reasons to fear my own pipes. Even if it plays like Snake, there's a really low risk of hitting yourself; some obstacles would have made things more interesting, too.

That being said, the game works great, and is pretty fun! Balancing the generator thing was an interesting addition to Snake!
