moeru-ludumbanner.png 199X - weapons research has culminated in slow-moving pulsating orbs. prove to the coruglan empire that they are no match for the battery-powered plasma machineguns mounted on your trusty spaceship, bumbler!!

oh, wait, you forgot to charge the battery?

shooting depletes your energy levels, pick up batteries to replenish energy and wrenches to repair your ship. weapon pickups add an additional bullet per level, but cost more to shoot.

These "save" and "publish" buttons are pretty next to each other, right? :p
Don't worry, you can still edit and update after publishing, and people will wait until you have a downloadable version before rating.

Great! Good controls and audio, but UI is kind of far. Still, it is a great game overall!

Good entry ! Love the little screen shakes and explosions, and that feeling of power you get at the beginning, only to realize that you have to pick up powerups so you can keep shooting at the same pace. When your power decreases too much it gets harder to avoid all bullets the enemies drop. Anyway, great job !

Nice game!!

Audio and graphics are great, and gameplay is fun. Shooting is very satisfying! It would've been nice if there were some more enemy types and such, but this goes for pretty much all ld entries (including mine hehe). I wish I could see my highest score in between rounds. Well done!

This feels like playing an arcade machine. Well-paced gameplay quickly sucked me in. Art and music are stylish and technical. Overall it's a skilfully designed game, and for me it outshines the lack of originality. My only complaint is that the window is too tall for my screen height of 768px.

thanks a bunch for the feedback!! it's all very useful stuff

@pixzleone - i was gonna do highscores but completely forgot about it during the end. it's been something i wanted myself, so i'm gonna make a post-jam version of the game that's a little more fleshed out, with highscore tables and all.

@librorumque64 - oh, dang, i hadn't even thought of that. i'll have to look into how to autoscale love2d games or something because that's pretty unacceptable! thanks for the notice!

A classic but fun shoot them up ! A little bit repetitive but it's cool to play it with all the feedbacks coming from it !

Good job :)

Very juicy and satisfying! Love the enemies death dynamic - they die very fast, after a little shooting, but there's a slight pause before them exploding, right? Makes killing them much more weighty. I may be mistaken as I haven't examined it closely, anyway, I feel, in your game it's done just right, while a lot of scroll shooters doing this wrong, making you to shoot in enemies for an eternity.
Game window was too tall on my screen too. Still. Got a lot of good fun with it. A solid entry, thanks!

Fun little game! I think it's very similar to [Spacy Adventure](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/spacy-adventure), although I slightly preferred this one because of it's fast pace.

It's really fun but everything is super quick and it's hard to see the enemies (but graphics and sounds were great )

What a great little shooter! I love shooters anyway, and this one just feels good. I love the screen shake and particle effects, and the explosions! The powerups is also a nice touch. One thing, this resolution doesn't really play nice with the texts, some of them are cut off. Solid work, I've enjoyed it, so thanks for creating it. :)

P.S. I can help you with autoscaling if you're interested, PM me on the Love2D forums!

Fun little game, I enjoyed this quite a lot. The controls were responsive and tight and shooting enemies felt good! The music had a nice perk to it and really enhanced the game for me. I loved how everything would slow down as your fuel became low, it was slight as hell, but also communicated the imminent need for fuel. Tight logo too, by the way!

A few critiques and suggestions:

I'm not a fan of screenshake being used so excessively in a game like this. I think it makes the game a lot more difficult to read when the action gets dicey. In my opinion gameplay should come before "juice".

Without seeing the code, I can't say for sure, but are the drops completely randomized? Generally I was finding that I had plenty of fuel and didn't need to worry about over-firing too much, but then occasionally I would find that I'd hit a dry spell where the game wasn't dropping anything for me. You might want to play around with a dynamic drop-rate where as your fuel gets lower, enemies have a higher chance of dropping it. (And, correspondingly, if you had high fuel, the game would not shower you in more fuel either)

I think a high score display would have improved the replayability a lot ー even if you just implemented it as a run-time variable that would be blown away after the game was closed. Without knowing whether I've bested my previous score, or came close, your game missed out on a "one more game" drive, I feel.

Again, very solid game. I'd love to give a tuned post-jam rendition of this another spin!

@shru - yeah drops are completely random. basically there's a countdown going on with different chances of drops spawning, with batteries being the most common. dry spells are something i've noticed myself, but having it be more dynamic is honestly pretty brilliant and something i'll definitely try to implement.

re: highscores, i've actually already implemented that in a post-jam version, persistent savefile on your hdd and all! it's on the itch page, although i'm hiding the downloads until the end of voting, just to be safe noone accidentally rates the game based on the edited version.
