In this game you have one power bar that is a combination of your health and stamina. Your power bar goes down if you shoot your gun, dash, or get hit by an enemy. It goes up when you move around and stand near Beacons. Remember that the power boots require you to keep moving or your power will run out and you will die.
Standing near beacons gives you a safe space to heal.
Story
You are in a tough spot. Your mother has been struggling with an illness of unknown cause, and she asks you to help her. A relic of her past, the power boots, are given to you. These boots make you powerful enough to take down any swamp creature, but there's just one thing. When you are not moving in them, you are dying in them.
Take these boots and search the swamp lands to activate the 7 beacons, don't die trying.

Edit: Fixed the win condition. Cut down the map.

I love the idea of the power boots! Very nice take on the theme.
The world is pretty big and I wasn't sure where to go. I think I've seen most of it, but I can't really be sure. I'm just very impressed with what you've managed to create. The graphics are nice, the world is fun to play around in, and overall the game just felt polished.
Thanks for the great feedback guys! I definitely agree, this should be condensed so that there is less wandering. Or maybe just a more compact experience would be better in general-
Really, this game can easily be expanded into a full game.
Keeping with the current game, I think that you don't "need" to use all your skills, in fact, you can simply run into the monolith without a single attack. It may be challenges specific for the skills of the character: things to cut, target to be shoot from afar or gasp to dash over.
Constructive feedback: The camera moving to where you're looking is very nice, but maybe slow it down? It was hard to be to see everything that was going on with the camera jumping around so much. Have the text boxes disappear when done talking to someone, I kept talking to the mother wondering why she kept saying the same lines over and over before I realized that you could just walk away from her.
Combat was pretty solid. It was pretty easy and everything just had too much health. And it also felt like all the enemies except for flies had too big hitbox. This was even more apparent when enemies were above/below you. You had to distance yourself just right not to get hit by them mid swing. Didn't find any good use for the gun and dashing at all. I only dashed when not in combat and traversing longer distances. Dashing also looked somewhat weird when doing it diagonally since you only had sprites for the four main directions. I think the gun and dash both consumed too much energy, the damage of the gun was low and it usually knocked the enemies back so that the next shot wouldn't even hit.
Final mild annoyance, I think the dialog window could be closed in the end of their speech instead of repeating the last line over and over. And then if you'd talk to them again they would start their speech from the beginning. The repeating of the final line broke the immersion and made it feel more gamey.
Super sweet entry, good job!
Also, I wouldn't say the beacons are scattered "all across the land" when they're all pretty close to the village, but that's just a nitpick. ;)
Seriously, this is amazing. Excellent job!
The controls could be tighter; with the movement forward when you swing your axe, it feels a bit frustrating at times; and enemies have a lot of health. But otherwise, woah! It's so well made, so polished and so "full" of stuff! Good writing, too...
Really great entry!
