Running from Power by dirkinz

[raw]
made by dirkinz for LD 39 (COMPO)

screenshot2.png

You have stolen the crown now you just need to get away. How long can you evade capture?

Use wasd to move and space to jump.

Jump over the potholes to confuse and slow the guard chasing you but be carefull. If you fall in a hole you will trip and the guard will catch up.

If you leave a comment I'll come check out your game as well.

Nice game with a twisty approach on the theme!
Liked the mechanic with the mob following you.
Graphics and animations are very smooth.
Cool intro by the way.

I really liked it, it was fun seeing the person chasing you get stuck stuck on walls.

I mean: Unfortunately I cannot run this Windows 64 bit exe on my 32 bit machine, could you add another build?

Thanks for all the comments guys. I don't really know anything about making audio but I hope to have figured some of it out for LD40.

There is no way to win really other than just getting a really high score.

Honestly I don't know how to make a 32 bit build right now and I don't have the time today. I'll look into it tomorrow and see what I can do.

Really funny to see such a different idea on the theme. Easy controls and good graphics, sadly there is no audio.

The idea is cool. Would have been better if the camera was centered on the character, like it is you reach the edge of the screen, so you can't see anything ahead.

Simply and fun!
Found that I can run behind the guard!
And look like I was the one chasing him haha

This game gives you a feeling of inevitability. Runs are over very soon, the level generation should perhaps give you some more walls to fool the guard.

Idea is good but i would love to control with the Arrows too (only WSAD are working).
Anyway great work :)

Nicely done! I really like this clever take on the theme. The game seems a little impossible times but maybe I just suck. I really like the time you took to add the continuity of the Blink Ring rather than just "you died, lose a life". It's been said but Audio would've been great :)

Not bad, but sadly there is no audio :( . HOpe that in your next entries you will have some.
Again, maybe I suck on this game, but I cannot run away from chaser, he runs too fast :/ .

But anyway - nice graphics and gameplay :) .

Hey !

Nice pun.. :D

The game itself is alright, controls are very responsive and it's quite smooth overall. Graphical style is nice.

I had some trouble confusing the guard, jumping over holes didn't really do anything to him, just slowed me down. I guess there's something I didn't quite understand :(

I suggest you add powerups, then you'll have the perfect espace style game experience ;)

Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt
We could use the criticism too :D

Nice runner, but too difficult. Many times I couldn't jump over the obstacles, because timing is too small. Overall great job, good luck)

Pretty interesting twist on the theme. I mean, it's not the theme, but I gave you points for being creative. The art is decent, but the photo of the ring was very jarring. It would have been much better to just throw one together in your art program, in my opinion. I can't stand photographs in games though, being an artist. Good work overall. Mechanically, i have no idea how to actually stop the guys from catching you. I kept trying to get them hung up on stuff, but it seemed to only work some of the time. The hitboxes felt kind of sloppy too, like I was getting stuck on holes I didn't actually touch. Not a bad entry overall though. Good job.

Nice game, It was quite fun, even though I'm quite terrible at these kind of games (score of 35 :frowning:).

The guard trying to reach you puts a nice twist on the genre of infinite runners and made it unique . I just wished that the potholes could slow down the guard a bit, because right now it's quite difficult for me to get anything more than my terrible score.

The graphic style is good. Somehow has some 90's feeling in it.
I also appreciate the presence of an introductory sequence.

Funny play on words of the theme and some interesting mechanics. I would have liked to see more kinds of obstacles for the player to both get trapped by and use to his advantage. It ended up feeling a bit hopeless once the guard was close enough. Regardless, this is a simple and fun game, keep up the great work!

I am apparently not very good at this :\ either way, at some point I got around 70 after I finally figured out the mechanics.

It might've been nice to have instructions in the game or something to let people know what to do once the game starts, rather than just jumping straight in!

I can't play your game since I don't have a Windows machine, but based on what I can see of your description and screenshots, did we pretty much almost make the same game? Too funny!

Nice. I like the way you introduce the game. A short introduction and here we go. It miss some music (and maybe some effects). It is harder than we thought to avoid being catched.
