Robobrawl by Empyrealhell

[raw]
made by Empyrealhell for LD35 (COMPO)
Fight your way through waves of enemy robots using your prototype reactive metal weapon. Each attack will cause the weapon to adapt itself to that attack type, changing shape in the process. Use that flexibility to take out your opponents.

If the web player is choppy, can try the plugin link or the windows download.

Edit: A little clarification on the gameplay. The timing, range, duration, and damage of every attack is at least slightly different. The animations are (hopefully) distinct enough that you can tell which attack your opponent is doing, and punish them when they miss (like in a fighting game, or something like Dark Souls). If you're having trouble, try observing their attacks for openings, or switch to their weapon and try them out yourself. I've added an extra image that shows how the weapons change based on your attacks to help you get the right weapon at the right time.

Only one enemy? Gameplay is janky and not very good :/

Graphics looked great. No sound is always a downer for me but that's okay. Seems like most of my hits never connected with the enemy and when I'd get him on the ground he'd just get back up after a minute and kill me. Never could find a way to actually kill the enemy completely, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I couldn't figure out what. Nice effort

I found the controls a bit strange AQSO (maybe your keyboard layout is not qwerty?) I found it a little too slow and i found that the little attacks could have a greater range. but nonetheless the game is great. Good job

A/Q, S/O should work for all common keyboard layouts (A/S for qwerty and qwertz, Q/S for azerty, A/O for dvorak). It was easier to just add the extra bindings than put in control customization. If you have a set up that doesn't work with those binding, let me know and I'll see about adding it in.

I can't get engaged in the fight. It lacks impact - I can't even tell if an attack landed without watching the healthbars. There's too many things to keep track of, and the attacks all seem very slow. Maybe I was just using them wrong. Also I expected my weapon turning red to be a good thing.

It's very innovative, and the graphics are lovely. I just didn't find it fun.

There's a glitch where, upon killing an enemy, the next one would have their animation stuck in the "lying down" position for a while.

It's an interesting idea for a game, but requires a lot of things to get fixed. The controls felt a bit too unresponsive and the fighting felt more or less glitchy without any feedback. I think with little extra work this can be turned out to something nice :)

graphics are good but after killing the enemy it started sliding on the ground and every time it touched my foot it took health and when I hit it it stood back up and killed me.
