[raw]
made by juxipolo for LD 40 (COMPO)

Triage Towers is a hospital simulation, where you need to keep a hospital afloat as more and more patients arrive all the time.

Reviewer Notes:

There is no victory or loss condition. Once you have built a Nuclear Imaging room, you have built everything. If you run out of money, you just go into the negatives. While that could be biting commentary on the healthcare industry, it's just lack of time :)

Update 12/21:

I've uploaded a more complete post-compo version of the game. It adds a lot of new rooms, some new mechanics, and is generally a more complete prototype. You can actually fill the whole map, make a profit, and care for patients.

Great game that is enjoyable and well designed, requiring the player to know what he is doing to earn a profit, well worth playing

Wow. This is a very well done well organized simulation game. The tutorials are nice, the UI makes sense and is easy to use. It's very intricate. There are details all over the place from graphical details in the rooms to technical details about the patients. Really impressed, especially given the 48 hour time limit. Awesome game!

I wasn't able to get any buildings past the initial tutorial ones after I built out the first building. Perhaps a bit more explanation is in order?

Crash bug should be fixed now - I was trying to do use proper locale-aware currency formatting APIs, but the font doesn't pack currency symbols other than "$". Thanks for the screenshot @akai-0okami !

@nardandas - For some reason I thought it was a good idea to add a one minute delay before the next tutorial message. Fast-forwarding speeds that up, but you didn't miss much.

Incredibly deep for being made in such a short period! Tutorial was great.

I had difficultly figuring out how to make a profit though... built some of anything, and my money kept on draining...

Graphics were nice and varied, having the different colors for the different wings was great!

Wow, fantastic depth for a compo entry - I assume you didn't get any sleep at all? I like the abstract style how patients and staff are being displayed. The animation is a bit off, it would help the game feel a lot if you sync actual movement speed and movement animation. I think you could turn this into a "full" game if you spend a bit more polishing time. Fantastic job!

Best tutorialization of any game I've played this jam. So far I've made -$100,000, lol. This game looks and feels a lot like SimTower but I'm having a hard time gauging how many people are in my hospital vs. what I should build. And the constant murmuring sound is downright bizarre. But yeah, this game has tons of depth and replayablility which is amazing.

One of the best games that i tried in this compo. Very complete for a game made in 48 hours! The tutorial is superb and it explains the game perfectly. Every single room is packed with details that made it easy to identify from the distance. The characters are well defined and animated. You made a lot of things good in so short time. Awesome job.
