Mind Your Minions by Alexander Crane
Mind Your Minions is a puzzle platformer where you are a king who must collect his minions and sacrifice them in order to to reach the end goal. The minions gather in a queue behind you as you pick them up, and you can only use the minion at the front of the queue at a time. They will protect you as they follow you, so they resemble your in-game lives. You must sacrifice them to progress, but if you take damage without any following you, it's game over!
This was our first Ludum Dare, and while we didn't participate in Compo, we did finish in 48 hours with one playable sample level, with four different types of minions (fire, water, bomb, normal), obstacles, and a queue structure used to have them follow you. A full game would include levels that test the user on picking up the right minions, in the right order, and using them to navigate different obstacles.

On startup, the music kind of got me out of nowhere, it was loud and I didn't see any slider to adjust the volume. It was good music tho.
Great concept! looks like something I would see in an actual game.
Although, one major downside is that you can fly. I'm not sure if you accidentally left it in or if it was a bug, but it enabled me to skip to the bomb companion, throw him and then get out without using anything else.
Ignoring that, if you miss with the grey one, you don't get him back. Which can be problematic considering there is no quick restart button so you have to kill yourself.
Overall though, pretty ok! Definitely room for improvement.
Being able to fly was a bug. I was able to fix it 20 minutes before the deadline (it was just a boolean not being changed), but it looks like I forgot to update the .zip upload to the correct final version after that, which should now be fixed on the itch.io page. You can launch the fire minion to press the button as well, though aiming it ended up more difficult than we wanted since it is larger (sorry about that!).
