Ionising by Jajo

Menu.png Well, making this was an experience... My friend supplied some excellent art assets, while I was making a full game in Unity for the first time (I'm more of a Java + Slick2D person). It was a hell of a lot of fun.

Ionising is a nuclear-waste style platformer where the player must complete the level before their radiation bar reaches maximum capacity, while fighting nuclear monstrosities along the way. Be warned! The jumping is a little buggy.

Also, we opted out of having audio rated because... well, you'll see- just play the game!

Controls: Move- A/D Shoot- LControl/Mouse 0 Jump- Space

Enemies: Blob- Generic left-moving enemy. Vomit- Strange slug that cannot move, but cannot be killed by your minigun. It can also vomit up radioactive slime.

Good luck :)

UPDATE: Changed the windows download link to itch.io rather than google drive.

The game is not bad! However, like you said the jumping is a bit buggy. I don't really get the take on the theme though. I wish you could've added some gun shot or hit sound effects other then just a song. But good job!

Nice game! If you can fix jumping (and shooting, which bugs from time to time as well) it would be greatly appreciated, as this can be quite nerve wrecking...

But the quick restart time fixes a lot of these issues ;-)

Notable criticisms: You could jump in midair if you just fell off. Also, the gun was kinda useless since I could just jump over the enemies. It was short, but still a good play. Nice graphics!

It's really awesome to finish game for the ludum with new technology. I believe with time you will get more experience to make your games better. Anyway good entry!

How can I say no to men with hats? Nice job; it didn't feel like shooting was all that necessary, but I got that contra feel anyway. Good job!

Jumping is indeed buggy, but the bigger problem for me was “sliding” controls. All the surfaces felt really slippery and was hard to stay on them. Visuals are nice but I feel music doesn’t fit them. Sort of like adding 80’s bleeps and bloops to a ultra realistic modern FPS. Anyway good job for a first Unity game!

I think you were able to hit the mood you were going for. I'd like to play a post-jam version with 'fixed' jumping, because it was very difficult to progress when a mis-jump is an insta-death.
Nicely done!

I totally missed the fire control on first play :) After I figured out what i was doing it was a fun little game. Nice work! Control + Arrow Keys on a Mac does some window controls, so space and up might be better keys...

I loved the contrast between the music and the graphics ! However, controls are soooo frustrating... I'd love though to see more of it with better controls.
