The Next One is a short Zelda-style dungeon crawler made in Pico-8 where the only way to win is to die. Dying resets you back to the beginning of the dungeon with a new, randomly generated character, but each character keeps the items that the previous ones collected. You'll need to use that to your advantage in order to win! Sacrifices must be made.

Enjoy!

I got a bit frustrated in the lantern section near the end but very nice idea, I enjoyed this.

The idea is great, falling floor and darkness is a good way to implement the Death and Information cycle.

The idea is sound, but boy, does the lantern part feel dickish. I get the point and how it ties into the theme, but it kills the fun part of the game for me. That being said, it represents the theme really well. I guess I'm just a bit too mechanics-focused and trial 'n' error kinda approach isn't really my jam.

Short and sweet, I liked it. No problem with the lantern section :notes:

Nice idea to retry same levels with more clues on where to go each time. A bit hard on the lantern part but like the game is short it would have been really short if it was too easy.
Good job ;)
