For me this game has everything that game jam submission should have. There is original idea. There are cute matching graphics, also audio and visual feedback for everything you do.

I like the twist at the end. It is a cleaver combination of genres I like. Solid entry!

I enjoyed it and had fun! It was nice to see the progression of the city. Just when i thought i'm missing the shooter aspect, the game delivered. It was a bit difficult to both have the action and read the goals for the new stage, a little pause would have helped me there.
Just now i was rebuilding after the catastrophe, only to fail to watch my scientists again! I failed my citizens.

Overall, a really nice game, a lot of respect for doing this as compo!

Nice game, I destroyed everything on the first playthrough, by instinct 0_o pretty sure I murdered children on my second playthrough, not by instinct.

Man, why you gotta deny me my 100 population like that? Those robots scared me.

Really fun game! My only disappointment with it is that other than at the very beginning and the robots appearing there isn't really anything interesting going on. The populace takes care of themselves pretty much. And that apparently I can't actually win... damn robots.

Lots of potential. Good work!

It's a really good concept, fitted just fine the theme. The sounds are great and the art style works for this type of game. It gets really hard once you try to get 100 of population, which is nice. Great job! Obs: I got really scared with that laser sound LOL.

I have nothing negative to say about this; it hit the theme, the music was great, the gameplay was awesome, the science twist was unexpected and hilarious. Great work, 5/5 all the way.

This was a fresh idea for a sim game, I really enjoyed the events that would take place when robots attacked, however, I sorta feel like the game auto plays itself after 2mins or so.

Well 5/5 for the theme. It certainly is a mash up of two genres. It works really well too. I enjoyed it and played for quite a while. Good stuff :8ball:

Your sprites are adorable, music is charming, controls were very smooth, and the tutorial did a good job carrying me along & introducing mechanics. I really enjoyed the first few minutes, and then, as others have pointed out, the game seemed to play itself (except occasional robot rampages.)

Anyway, impressive work. Thanks for the game!

Very, very nice game! Fun to play, nice plot twist, really nice simple graphics. Wonderful animation, really! Music is excellent, too. And I guess I learned with you a thing or two about how to make a player know what to do :-) Very solid compo submission, kudos for you!

Yeah, I think I made the construction workers a bit too smart. Right now they auto build structures that are in demand pretty much. I think a good fix would be to have them simply build neutral structures and let the player zone them out as needed.

I really want to come back to this game at some point. There are so many things I wanted to add that I didn't have time to, especially to add some more shooting action in there which I agree is somewhat lacking right now.

Very good job.

It took me a while to understand that I have not to kill all people, but this is a problem of mine

The feeling of the game is very good although the minimalism. The idea of the different rays to construct and turn savages was very good and funny :) Nice joooob!

really impressive for a compo entry :

* lot of animated graphics
* neat music
* interesting and challengin mashup (sims and shooter)

it was very fun to play and i surely play it again to advance in ages (good catch with the robots).

Congrats !

There is no age beyond the age of your robotic overlords. Maybe if I develop it further. Thanks for playing!

This was a very fun city simulation game with a cool twist. I really like the fact that you advance in ages and need to balance the industrial, commercial and scholar buildings.

I think you could have taken the theme a bit further because the savages only appeared in the very beginning so maybe there could have been some more savages later on in the game but with different appareance.

Poor citizens got killed in the end by the robot but that gave me a good laugh. Great game overall!

No chance, SCIENCE only leads to giant death robots. Shoot them all down or watch your city burn!

I tried to make the robots look kinda like the savages to bring it full circle in the end. I also wanted to add more misbehaving sims based on how well you manage the city but didn't have time. I have lots of ideas for further development so hopefully it gets done in the future!

Ah this was a nice one! Nice gameplay and all, but the thing that really stood out was how well you fed the player (me) with instructions. I've been playing a bunch of games that just drops you into hell without any instructions so this was nice. Good work!

aaaaaaa damn these guys https://i.imgur.com/UyapFIg.png

That was fun! I liked the sharp humor of shooting cavepeople and destroying their homes in order to _:・゚✧\*・゚✧civilize\*✧:・゚・゚✧_ them. I would've enjoyed a little more in-depth city sim, though from my own city sim entry I know how difficult it is to do that in so short a time...

 I love this one! The music and art fit very well with it and the gameplay was extremely addicting. After the first few robots I went around killing all the scientists! I never got to 100 population but it was fun to play anyways. Good job!

Great game. The robots was annoying i think i had 5 spawn at once but which slowed progress down but i built back up. Was a nice fun game would love to see more.

Music was perfect sound effects was a bit loud but good. Graphics could of used to some work, for example the school was a lot smaller than anything else.

I loved the gameplay the idea of building the civilisation using just a gun was a pretty cool concept.

I did have problems with the html5 version as RMB was to change weapon which brought up a menu and made me keep running in the single direction until i pressed the button again which was a nuisance but could be fixed by changing the change weapon button to spacebar for example.

Overall awesome game!

Very fun, and clever. A little too on-point historically, with guys with guns blowing away native people until they conformed. I loved the giant robot invasions - very neat. Good sound, music, graphics, and controls. Very nice work.

Fun and clever. As mentioned above, watch out for unintended messages, e.g. "kill the science and replace with house, commercial...basically anything but science" since that's how I finally put an end to the grow and die cycle. Nicely complete in 48 hours. Needs more to create re-playability; this is a fun idea.

I will never not love a city builder. I really liked how this game had a few different phases, and elegantly guides the player through them.

On my first playthrough, when science went to far it killed all the men who weren't builders, so the population was stuck where it was. Not sure if that's a bug or a great example of emergent gameplay - I enjoyed myself either way. Well done.

Great game! The graphics are nice and cute, and the situations are very funny (Robots!!). The thing I liked the most was the changes done during the time of play (savages into people, building, matching, destroying!).

Congratulations!

Pretty nice! Looks very cute. And pretty good entry overall.

The "uh, seems like science got too far" caught me off guard, ahah.

But then, it was just a matter of destroying science houses. Science is overrated!

I like that you had killing sprees and non-killing sprees, but maybe I would have liked "rebels" or "criminals" to make up some shooting gameplay aside the cavemen and robots?

Cool to see the game was made in game maker!
(You're not in the (reddit) game maker discord by any chance? if not, you should, it's a solid entry you got there)

I'm also surprised, considering that it's a compo, that you didn't also publish it for the gm48 game jam that happened at the same time, since I think the theme wasn't so far off. (the theme was "helfpul but harmful"; since your weapon is helpful but may also kill, I think it's appropriate. same for scientists. There were several "double entries" and most of them barely even made the theme fit for gm48; but I think this your game felt alright in that matter)

There are some seriously dark undertones to this! I eventually figured out that the winning strategy for a steadily increasing population was to kill off all the green (I assume sick) people and to turn any school built into a factory or residence, while also culling any scientist or freshman that managed to slip out of the school before I got to it! Scary stuff.

I did get the notification saying I'd reached the final goal but it coïncided with a robot blasting my town to pieces, so I never actually saw it reach a hundred and got a little confused. Decided to keep playing until I did reach it (again?) and eventually my strategy above got me there after some ups and downs (at one point falling all the way back to 19 people!).

Definitely not what I initially expected after just eyeing the description and seeing the screenshot of the cavemen. I thought I'd be fighting them throughout the entire game! Was surprised to see how much more complex it got.

Adore the music. Nice sound effects. Cute graphics. Good indication as to which gun ray is currently selected. Overall feels very complete and nicely packaged. Well done!
