Great game! (im aware you can shoot with the mouse)
It's very polished and works great on all accounts, it's quite impressive!
I'm not a big fan of the graphics but there's only so much you can do in 48 hours right xD
Well done!
Thank you for your review!
You nailed the main part of the gameplay, so this is probably just minor.
@deathray also in the "Car" panel, the first line indicates what the dog brings to the car (food and fuel), which are automatically put in the car. the food is lost when you feed people, and the fuel is lost between each wave, transformed in "traveled miles".
Thanks for the reviews!
Here's my play: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/345392408?t=10m27s
I found a bug that give lots os resources if you keep shooting the car after the wave ends and the shooting sound keeps playing for a while.
Other than that, very interesting and humours game. I guess the black humour is already expected when you read the game title, but is interesting that it deals with it in a non-serious way. The dialogues are very funny, just as the pros and cons of sacrificing your party members.
I think the graphics could have used i bit more polishing, but it doesnt really compromises the game experience.
Graphics are indeed my weak point, and I am absolutly not satisfied with it (especially the background in the shooter part), but unfortunatly couldn't do better during the jam. If I decide to push the game further, it is something I want to improve. Thanks again, hoped you had fun!
I really enjoyed this game concept, thought it was funny and took a light hearted jab at itself as a jam game with limitations.
The gameplay was solid and the idea of eating your companions to stay alive really fit the theme.
However it wasnt clear to me what would happen if the zombies hit the car (I assumed it would be bad, but I wasnt sure if it would game over if they hit the car or just if they killed us).
Also the choices seemed a bit like you would always naturally sacrifice the kid and the thirst-trap and end up on a bro-ride with the neighbour because he has the best stats. I think maybe if you were in control of where they were placed each round it might make it more viable to keep the weaker people alive? (I always lost them if they were on the opposite side of the car to me). More variety in the map texture mightve been nice too but imagine this was just the time restraint!
On the whole well done and fun though :)
For the anecdote, the background image is the last thing I did before going to sleep at mid-term; it took me about half an hour to do it, and after seeing the result, I got a big loss of motivation and didn't want to lose more time trying to make decent backgrounds... But yeah, the initial idea was to have different backgrounds to show movement and evolution between waves!
As for the missing animations and sounds for people death, car taking damages and explosion, I have no excuse, as I submitted my entry 2 hours before the deadline. I guess I just "forgot" to do it (or really needed some sleep).
Thanks again, glad you had fun!
