Victor Spumante And The Raindrops of Burgundy by gimblll

[raw]
made by gimblll for LD 44 (COMPO)

The game is about a gentleman called Victor Spumante, who is the last man an earth, surviving in his lonely castle in a world overtaken by vampires. Fittingly for the theme "Your life is currency", Victor is forced go get creative in surviving.

It is a trash game, developed in a stream of consciousness style. A devlog is available on my Twitter https://twitter.com/gimblll/status/1122045038400286720

No further screenshots. You need to experience it. Full on. Or maybe not. Your brain may not survive the experience. Actually, I don't think anyone should touch this. Bye.

I like your style but I can't play too long because the pink hurts my eyes. You are a funny man. Keep it up!

Hey good job!

Has made fun to delve into your short story without knowing, what's going to happen. Just when I started to figure out, what it's all about, the whole game changes. The second act of the game was a funny surprise.

And I learned a new word: Zigamaroogadoos!

A very funny and weird game. The music is really good in this game. The mini games was okay, but they could have been better. The funny story is absolutely the best part of this weird game. Overall a good LD game. Well done.

It's different! Good tune.

Not sure where it was going, I just ended up endlessly clicking 'sell blood' until I'd got 16 limbs and then got bored and nothing else seemed to happen after the first visitor. A bit confusing that regen is in pints/sec whereas total blood is in litres!

@paul59 I think it should reward you if you spend few minutes longer on it. :) Though it might melt your brain too, so consider carefully how to proceed.

I like the concept, UI is bit of an eye sore tho and to get started in the game takes a bit too long IMO. Nice job tho!

Oh my god, how many drugs did you take while making this? Was it all of them?

I love it so much. A+ heartwarming flesh-blob-merger ending.

Woah, how did you have time for all this? This is one of the most unique ludum dare games I'v played! Very funny, I liked the audio, the controls during the katamari damacy like minigame were a bit tricky, sometimes you could get the camera stuck outside the walls

@exewin @otresnjak Just my brain's natural juices.
@crosenlund79 Sorry! Try a different browser?
@fat-cat You can check my timeline from my Twitter devlog, pretty hectic. And yeah, the camera stuck is unfortunate, noticed it too late. Adds to the charm I say! :)

Wow that's a lot of a lot! I'm glad I pushed through, I almost thought stage 1 was going to be all of it all and didn't press on with my business. Good fortune that I did.

Well done variety show!

Started as a classic cookie clicker thingy but then there is much more!
It didn't quite stick to the theme throught the games but it was an interesting journey :D

What the hell did I just play? the game perfectly describes itself as "This piece of of art" and, OH BOY! is it ever. There is rarely a compo/jam game I want to share with all my friends but this is one of them

Truly a piece of art, I didn't realize how much I wanted to play a game like this until now. Where do I find me some Zigamaroogadoos? And on the contrary, I think EVERYONE should touch this!

Funny satisfying game with good music. I would have switched the presentation font with the gameplay one because I really had a hard time reading it.

Hey man, awesome game you have there.

Really, it was sooo funny. Your imagination is one of a kind ;) And, actually, not so "crazy" as it may seems. This idea of selling your blood to vampires was brillant in the end, regarding the theme !

And how you put the things to go weird little by little is also very clever. Me and my GF would play your game and see the "limb" button appear. We click on it naive as we are and it was just several minutes latter that we stopped, looked at each other and were like "are we really doing what we think we're doing?"

Haha excellent game dude, and you tell everyone a great lesson : do not take you too seriously ;)

see ya

PS : oh yeah and btw, AWESOME MUSIC man ;) "Victor Spumante" :D

Well that sure was, umm, something. I would have made more of an effort to hide the true nature of the game and keep a facade of being a clicker game for a bit longer (and better). You know, kinda like Frog Fractions where it goes for some while before completely going off the rails. Doing a game like this isn't probably a best idea in a jam, can't really focus that much on several different mini games and they end up just being boring and buggy speed bumps in progressing the story.

I dunno how seriously I should feedback in a game like this but making a joke game shouldn't really go ahead of user experience. You used a whole bunch of different fonts and pretty much all of them were terrible. Most didn't really read very well and pretty much only one that did, arial, is just plain looking in a game and boring.

But anyways, good job, you managed to do quite a lot!

@gimblll Nah, don’t get me wrong, I really liked the humor in this. I just usually like to point out what could be improved (and even my opinion on how) since it’s more constructive.

Great use of absurd genre-switching to tell such an absurd story. The aesthetic was on-point for the narrative as well.

I'm glad our tragic hero got a happy ending.

*"Is this the real life ? Or is this fantasy ?"*

Great mix of genres held together with a deliciously ridiculous story. The game also has this "handmade" feel that makes it so enjoyable.

Pros :
- Fun, nonsensical story
- Creative artwork
- Diverse set of games

Cons :
- The gothic font of the first part is hard to read.
- The 3D game about getting bigger has camera issues.

All in all, great game !

I don't really get the gameplay... is it some kind of clicker thing?
The art needs some getting used to, but using a medium grey font on a purple background is always a bad idea ;)
The background track was neat though.
