Racing squared by joll05

[raw]
made by joll05 for LD 41 (JAM)

This is a racing game but with a twist. You are on a grid and can only move one square at a time! I decided to combine grid-based games and racing and this is the result!

Use W, A, S, and D to move around the course. If you run into a wall (orange square), you will be stunned for one second. I did not have enough time to add a timer so you just have to use a stopwatch if you want to time it.

This is the first original game that I have made with Unity so I hope you'll enjoy it!

Edit: There is no goal to this game, just mess around!

I used these tools to make my game:

Game engine: Unity

Music: Soundation.com

Models: Autodesk Fusion 360

Sprites/textures: paint.net

Nice job for your first game man. Keep it up, you'll get to making some awesome games in the future. Nice concept too.

It's okay as it is your first game. The game just really doesn't have a lot stuff to do.. Audio is okay and the car model is fine. + the particles look cool. I also made my first entry in this LD, you could go and check it out :)

Good work! I like the idea for navigating a grid racecourse and it's got a lot of potential. It'd be great if you could add some checks (maybe Trigger BoxColliders) for if the car goes around the whole of the track, to mark a lap as complete. But it's still pretty cool for your first game :D

@samboyer276 Good idea! I'll try implementing it in a separate build!

This would be as a fun multiplayer mini-game, don't know how well it would work as a full game, but the controls feel really good.
