FLÅTPAK by DaleP
FLÅTPAK is a hardcore (although probably not hardwood) furniture shopping survival simulator. Try to get through the store with as much flat-packed Scandinavian furniture as you can, while eating meatballs to keep your strength up for the journey ahead.
But be careful – if you break it, you buy it.
- 12/9/17 – updated source code URL to point specifically to the jam release
- 12/11/17 – added a message in support of net neutrality before the game starts (this doesn’t affect gameplay). If you care about ludum dare or indie games and live in the united states, please consider calling your congressperson because the indie market in its current form will likely not be accessible to players or developers in the united states if internet service providers have their way.

Nice game.
The camera seemed to be at a less-useful place a couple times, but at least it moves. Perhaps centered on the player would be better?
Other than the several obvious queues (blue sign, tables, serving area), having the restaurant be more visible (red/yellow checkerboard floor for example) would help find it. Also I didn't realize I got hungry so fast. Too focused on getting furniture apparently.
While the art is maybe lacking the design and feel of the game is pretty good. Some more sound or music would really help this game a lot. Good job, would buy meatballs and furniture again
Liked how it get slower when your cart is full of boxes, but couldn't find any meatball :(
I saw it on some games now, that the theme was resolved to "you get slower". I'm not a big fan of this, because as you progress, the game becomes slower in more boring usually. In flatpak it's a bit similar - in the beginning i have a lot of fun drifting around with high speed, a nice challenge. Then i pack stuff and become so slow that i use more time waiting than really engaging with the game, as the steering feels about the same, just 5 times slower. I think i would like it more if steering became harder and harder, just like in real life: With an empty cart, you can turn almost immediately. With a full cart, you can go forward just as fast (top speed), but when turning, you have to take special care, sort of like the drifting in flatpak in the beginning. In essence, i think the game should become more difficult - through difficulty in steering, or in sight, or whatever (hunger could decrease your vision).
In any case a very nice game, good job :)
(also, thank you so much for your detailed response on home raider!)
