Untitled-1.png

The supermarket is almost closing and you don't have much time to find all you need. But what a small world ! like if the time and your son, shaking the shopping cart for candies wasn't enough, you need to avoid the people you know in the supermarket. Will you be able to finish your shopping list and go to the cash register before the supermarket close ?

We take the expression "what a small world" as our theme. We hoped to have more people and more dialogs in the game but that's the game jam spirit :p

You need to grab object and put them in your shoping cart to check everything on your list. When done, go to the cash register to exit the level. If you spend too much time with your son next to the candies, he might become a bit nervous, a good punch might help you.

Because, bacon is hard to find in the game, here is an image of what is bacon in the bacon but don't look at bacon at all :p

Loved the idea and concept, the cart just handle the way a cart can sometimes drift (maybe a bit too much to be honest, especially while playing using the keyboard). I thought it was non really logic to have to navigate and move to aim your arm instead of using the mouse. But i've managed to finish my mission and i had fun. The graphic style is also really cool. Thanks for that entry

Really good concept (My team had the same idea!). It was really hard for me to judge where the ingredients were, and I suppose that's part of the challenge. I still have no idea where my 'cheap bacon' is...

Any way this was an extremely well executed game!

This was almost too real with the background sounds and the cart feeling so heavy :P. Once you know where the ingredients are it's actually not as hard as I thought. Trying to avoid people and finding the right places to grab stuff was really fun. It also felt really polished. I had no problems with the son and candy btw. And I liked the grabbing mechanic, it added a bit of challenge.

Love this. Had a blast playing the game. I particularly like how it is just like real life and the controls were well polished. Innovative idea too. Maybe it could be made harder by having items on the shopping list like "A treat for Mary".

Really neat take on this year's Ludum Dare theme! I thought the different characters were cute and with the background ambience it really felt like I was browsing around a small supermarket. I think some kid might have messed with the wheels on my cart though!

Fun game with a good suspense.

The cart is a bit hard to control. Ok it looks like a real cart but much worse sometimes. I got stuck I still don't how, in the last mission near the apples.

The graphism are cute ad the physic is funny and adds a little challenge, especially when a lot of things have to be put into the cart.

I had some trouble between the 2 camera modes. I wonder if this is necessary to have two modes. Maybe merging the two would work (where we could look around but only forward?)

Oh dude, this game was really crazy! I loved it.
It's like I already knew the store when I entered. We are so conditionned by society! xP
If it was disturbing to have people coming and talking to you, it worked really well for the purpose.
The Mii style visuals are cool too, and those at the check-out line look sooo bored!

I have just a small remark concerning the camera, which gives me some headaches. And I think it could be improved. Perhaps by detaching the camera from the caddy, so it's not constrained by its caddy's style moves. Ironically, it helped the anxiogenic experience.

Great game! And pretty amazing for a LD to end up with such a result!

The steering could be a bit improved to feel more natural, but otherwise i liked the plastic hand reaching for products ;-)

Shame I did not beat it in 4 takes ;-)

oh and btw, Mac version works! you can consider it tested ;-)

Your game made me actually laugh! Really loved the kooky art style and lighthearted atmosphere. Gameplay was bit hard but suited well with the last minute shopping panic theme. Few little improvements you could consider: as said by earlier commenter camera was problematic, made me even bit ill while trying to navigate through the shop. And as you clearly yourselves have noticed some of the groceries weren’t that clear what they were (especially the bacon ;)). Maybe add some labels “canned goods”, “milk” and so on hanging from the ceiling, like in real supermarkets. Apart from some minor flaws this is really great game!

This whole idea is pretty hilarious to me. It was already making me smile from the concept but I definitely enjoyed the whole idea of dodging/ending up in long conversations with people. Part of me really wanted/tried to read the conversations, but just felt so much in a rush that I had to try my best to skip. Plus, the simple/cute visuals were a good way to make something that can be incredibly stressful more fun.

Sadly, I was getting bad motion sickness very early in the game and couldn't play more than 10 minutes. I imagine it has to do with the speeds of easing in and out when the cart turns, which only gets amplified if you start turning your head while it's still moving.

In the end though, I think the game really captures a moment of rushing that everyone can relate to and was fun to see.
