LD39 - Runner Clone by LogFlames

The images can be a little squashed and they don't show properly on the screen because I took them on a 1080p screen... Screen Shot 2017-07-30 at 21.58.52.png (The main menu) Screen Shot 2017-07-30 at 21.59.05.png (The main game) Screen Shot 2017-07-30 at 21.59.21.png (The mini-game)

LD39 - Runner Clone is a simple runner game with a twist. The twist is that you can't run forever because you can "run out of power" (energy). See what i did there. ;D Anyways the game is a simple runner where you only can move left (A) and right (D). Sometimes you run into a game machine that will take to you a mini-game where you still take energy but if you complete the mini-game quickly you gain more energy then you loose. You control the mini-game with your mouse. (All of the blue plates is aimed towards your mouse) This is the second time I'm in the Ludum Dare and it's the first time i have audio in the game so please vote on that.

Cool game. I like that there are sort of two games in one.

The minigames were interesting, simple yet fresh. Didn't get very far myself but overall an enjoyable game!

I really like the mini-games. Very tricky.

Fun idea, but has two major problems. Obstacles that you passed in runner game obstruct your view, so you can't see your character and controls in minigame are annoying. Cool soundtrack and art style though

A nice, simple game. Fun and relaxing to play. I love the graphics. I mean, you aren't going to win in the innovation category, but fun beats innovative any day in my opinion.

Congrats, you're the first ever game I've rated on LD :D

It was fun, congrats! Clever "trail" effect with the displacement on the cubes behind your character. Minigame was fun too!

Only recommendation I'd give is to perhaps put a transparency shader on objects that have gone behind the player, as it can be a bit difficult to see what's going on :)

Well done, fun title!

Really like the concept. 2 games in one. The mini-game are hard sometimes :-)
Keep moving forward.

Paddle control is fun.
But the game is a bit too slow - if it was faster it would be much better :)

Before I played the game, I didn't think it would be very good, but as soon as I opened it up, I couldn't help saying, "Ooh, I like this!" The music is intriguing, and the minigames are really unique and challenging! I really enjoyed how they all reacted to the mouse in such a simple, yet frustrating manner. I just wish the collisions were better, as the ball kept going through the paddles.

The game is quite slow and there is only one mini game of which I find pretty boring.

I liked the minigame more than the main game :) In minigame ball sometimes gets jammed in paddle - probably because collision detection is 'discrete' instead of 'continuous', or paddle collider is too thin. Also adding option to pause the game would be nice

Avast thinks this is a virus and I since you can't ignore the warnings, the .exe file gets deleted. Dangit :/

I like the concept however the game pace is a little slow for my liking and the energy drains too slow. Also the camera can get very annoying. If it was just the minigame I probably would have given a higher rating.

This was a very interesting take on a runner. And i have to appreciate that, but it feels like the game was extremely buggy. It was near impossible to get the ball into the green area and most of the time it would get stuck in the paddle. Great idea, just could use a little fixing.

The music gets monotonic very quick, as does the gameplay, you never speed up and it does not get harder. There are also some technical problems, sometimes one of the small obstacles is placed inside a slot machine. Also the slotmachines often obfuscate the view of what lies ahead so I don't know whether to go left or right. The mini game is hard to control with the mouse, I find myself knowing how I want to rotate the panels, but I just can't make it happen.

I really like the 3D art style and the intro screen looks great. I know my cirtique sounds very bad but I am nitpicking here to suggest ways to improve on your next game. Overall this is still very nice and you completed a game in 48 hours so great job! Keep up the good work!

The visuals are nice. Plus the mini games add to the fun immensely. Nice overall 👍

The graphics are pretty good, although you should've used a different font. The Unity default one is blurry as hell. In the mini-games I didn't know what was going on at first, because it looked weird, but I quickly got the hang of it.

Let's not talk about the music. That high note that keeps playing constantly is really, really annoying.

For the gameplay I really think you did a great job. The idea with the two games in one is really cool and works very well. The controls in the mini-games feel a bit clunky, but I can forgive that.
I also feel like there's not enough 'danger'. I'm just running to get to the next slot machine, but on the way there's nothing that will really give you trouble.

So yeah, awesome work overall. Really nice.

Love the idea. But the minigames were quite hard. Do check that out :D

Overall, this was a perfect experience. Would play again! :)
The sound was good, the graphics were simple and clean. The movement was smooth(but a little bit slow. A tiny bit).

Good luck and congratulations! :)

Got a score of 240 nbd. Liked the camera work on the intro and the sort of game-ception thing going on was quite innovative. Also the trails on the runner's arms were very cool /aesthetically pleasing. For the first LD including audio, I'd say pretty good. It felt like it had a good pacing that corresponded with the player's movement. Also something about the mini game was very fun to me and at the same time very difficult! Cheers.

This is the first time I have seen an idea like this, with 2 games in one and I found this really enjoyable. The movement was quite smooth and the trails of the players arms are a nice touch as well.
The mini games, while fun, were also challenging, which is good.
The overall gameplay is a fun idea and I would play again.

It was kind of too slow paced for my taste, but alas not half bad :)

Graphics are nice, even when being simplistic. Minigame was quite hard to control, but it is an interesting concept to say the least that could be further build upon.

I didn't quite understand it. The minigames were difficult to control, and goals were unclear.

Speed the whole thing up by 2x and you've got a nice thing going on here!

As a lot of other people said, found it really slow. Additionally I wished that I could continue to rotate the paddles by moving the mouse further past the borders of my screen. Procedural generation seemed to be done quite well however, so I was impressed with how that was done :)

### What I like:
- Great idea with the arcade machine minigames.
- Nice character model and animation.

### What I think could be done better:
- Everything could be sped up by a lot.
- Minigames were quite hard to control.

The Runner part of the game was very slow, I liked the idea behind the minigames. The minigames however were also quite slow, as quite often the bats are bunched together, and you just have to wait while the ball bounces back to the bats. When it came back to the bats, they were hard to control, and quite often the ball just went through them.

A runner in 3d with animations and several minigames. Cool! I loved the idea of the minigames, though the mouse control in those is a bit weird. The game will stringly benefit from more speed or an acceleration mechanic.
