Sparkling is a Topdown Survival Arcade game.

Using any skill, moving or being hit drains you energy. You can shoot enemies to collect energy drops, but can you really afford the energy cost? How long can you survive?

Started learning about general gamedev a few months ago. This is mey first Ludum Dare. Took me some good 15+ hours to put this together. Powered with Unity, Blender, BFXR and Photoshop. :)

You can play online, or download for Windows, Mac or Linux.

Wow! Very nice. Played it a few times and finally got how to collect a lot of power balls. Great fast moving game.

I also liked the music and the background seems to change every other game. Nice touch!

This was a solid entry. The controls and mechanics took a little getting used to at first, but once I got the hang of them, it became pretty fun. Initially I wasn't quite sure what to make of the floaty movement and the slow shooting speed, but then I realized it was done on purpose and I started timing my shots and being very satisfied when I managed to pierce a bunch of enemies at once. The graphics weren't anything super special, but they did their job well enough. The music was quite nice and the sounds were once again serviceable. I will say that maybe you should consider adding a little bit more feedback to the player getting hit (some screen shake, or maybe a more distinct sound). Overall, good work, especially for someone who doesn't have years of gamedev experience behind them!

Really fun game, but is not protected from cheesy plays like sticking to the walls all the time. I were able to stay like for 4 mins without shooting ect. If hiting walls deal damage i will have to use all the tools you implemented, and now it is a waste of code xD

Nice game that you've made! At first it was unusual to turn the ball quickly, but then after third time starting the game I used to it :) Good job!

Things I liked
- everything haveing a cost
- Very nice menu

Things for improvement
- Music - per my daughter - 'it hurts my brain'
- I would move the spacebar attack to right click, so it is all on the mouse other then movement
- Graphics didn't make thing clear what they were

Comment
- I couldn't figure out if the 'spacebar' ability actually did anything functional.

I felt like I wanted more control over the player and less sliding, since that made it pretty hard to dodge or aim - as a result of which I kept getting ganged upon pretty quick. I would probably do away with the movement cost too. Good stuff otherwise, fits well with the theme!

Good game, very interesting idea that the enemies are spheres, perhaps something more interesting could be done with the geometry (like bouncing) The cool down of the main gun is a bit annoying though.

Good game, but it feels a bit slow due to the inertia and the gun cooldown.
