Just a day at work... Killing some people.

The priest was meant to be able to switch between items and powers unlocked with levels through an inventory to kill those sacrified people in several different ways, but first GameJam for us, we slept too much :)
Really enjoyed, learned a lot especially about time management and priorities, want to share this kind of experience with more people !
I made all code and most of graphics.
@Ganjalo made an historical research work to find out who the church killed and who they killed them in the 18th century, and some graphics too.
Thanks to Jules who made all sound effetcs and music.
Thanks to Grace who wrote dialogs.
Enjoy while i sleep now !

The priest was meant to be able to switch between items and powers unlocked with levels through an inventory to kill those sacrified people in several different ways, but we lacked time :)
Will there be a post-jam version ?
About sound, there is a known bug wich prevent music to start at the beginning of the game. If it happens, actualising browser page should fix it.
Did you experienced other bugs ?
About the post-jam version, i wanted to implement at least inventory, items, powers, and differents ways to kill victims, with maybe a bonus xp points if you kill special characters in the good way (burning the witch, add a knife to the murderer and kill it with a knife too).
But my friend convinced me that a Jam game is what it is at the end of the Jam, and i must satisfy myself about that, learn from my mistakes and make better what i think i did wrong for the next Jam.
Cheers!
But i'm glad you can see where we were aiming for ! Thanks for playing and feedback !
About LD time, constraints make us learn! I feel i learned so much for my first GameJam in such a short amount of time, especially about time management and priorities! I like it :)
- Cool graphics
- Interesting world. Who is that character in white? Why are people lining up and willingly jumping off a cliff? And why don't people just push him off the cliff?
- interesting dialogue?
Could be improved
- There's no gameplay
- What is the faith bar for? What does it do?
- The death march takes too long
- The white character is a priest working for inquisition and killing people who match some heretic type of person. As he says, for him, it's just work here.
- Why don’t people just push him off the cliff?
Maybe they will :)
- There’s no gameplay. What is the faith bar for? What does it do?
Indeed we badly managed our time and couldn't implement the "choose the right tool to kill the right guy" thing.
The faith was meant to unlock new ways to kill people as you earn it.

Even though there are not much of gameplay, I've found myself pushing space, again and again, watching the queue of these lemmings marching to their death.
About the post-jam, your friend is not wrong, finishing a game (as in "not continuously making updates aimlessly") is an important skill. But I'd say that there's no absolutes, if you think there's a potential to be fulfill in your game there's nothing bad in trying to reach it. The real question is "do you want to do it ?".
Anyway, cheers mate!
