Power Idle Clicker by g12345

This is a really simple HTML5 / Javascript game I've made on Monday.
EDIT: I have fixed the timer bug, it should now working properly now... I might even going to improve the game further, but for now it should be working, and any non-gamebreaking bug will be a post-jam version.
It's a simple idle/clicker game.
Click on the boxes next to the Power Generators to buy them. They will generate more money in time so that you can buy more.
Every 25 Power bought in 1 category, will have its production speed doubled.
There is no ending in this clicker game but I think it will end when the money overflows.
I had more in plan but then realised I didn't have the time or screen space to add them.
Also, the theme for me is like "Running out of time" and I really didn't feel like making a game on my busiest weekend of the year. But it happened, and I'm happy for it.
I've always wanted to make a clicker game, and today I have learned how to do Mouse events, and how to Draw Standard Fonts on screen as well. Which makes me more happy than just to make another Arcade-y game.
Thanks for playing.

I had fun breaking it though!
Live chatted the whole playing session to g12345 in the IRC. :3
well done for getting it out there in the time you had!
Damn, I was stuck between 2 blocks :D
also, i had to update a 3rd time, because fixing the game i have left the test code in :P
Also got some brain power myself. Hope it'll help further on. ;)
A simple improvement would be to align the numbers on the right (or simply use a fixed width) and add a thousand separator, because after 5 digits, it becomes hard to differentiate 10000 and 100000.
I think it's a good effort in the timespan it's created in. Good work!
But I have to say, it's a solid game for only one day of development. It's a fun little game, good job.
EDIT: Some commas would be nice, though, to help see the thousands and millions!
I haven't seen this particular timer mechanic in other clicker games, and it definitely added some interesting dynamics (like buying out a bunch of a type just before its timer ends to maximize profit), but without any real reward to work towards the game feels a bit shallow. Cookie clicker had cookies, Candy Box had a story, idle RPG had boss monsters, this doesn't really try to do anything. I'd love to have even seen a background that starts empty and fills up with animals or buildings or anything, and the generator descriptions adjusted to match. Or maybe just some kind of "buy this mcguffin" endgame.
The numbers are also a bit too large to be meaningful; without commas or spacing, checking my balance involved either carefully counting the digits or just mashing on the various buy buttons to see which one works.
I don't really understand why the game's displaying my mouse position or score or depth.
@amras0000: as for the other numbers, some are just test numbers that I didn't had time to remove. Although the depth and score is for the background game. As for the tricks of buying stuff just before the timer ends, that's now a common trick (and a good one to discover for yourself!) that's being used in many other idle games.
I still haven't think about how to add more information onto the screen yet. The game already had its resolution increased twice already. And a post-jam version could have more achievements and stuff, but this game at the jam version doesn't look much different than the very first versions of some other very successful idle games on Kongregate (and I've played quite a lot of them.)
Thanks for all the comments.
- Simple to play
- Portable (Can be played on anything)
- The idea of the different items/upgrades on timers is a pretty cool idea, instead of them all just going on 'per second' or 'per clicks' or something like that.
- The game in the background was a cool idea but I'm not going to put too much into that as it was a past LD game.
**Cons/Improvements:**
- Need of balancing (eg: the price for 'Horse Power' needs to go up more or the amount it gives you should decrease)
- Graphics? Each of the upgrades / items to buy has just a blank box next to it I feel there should at the very least be some representation of them.
- A interactive element? as mentioned the game in the background was cool but it would be better if there was a element that was more interactive and relates to the game / money itself.
**Conclusion:**
- A solid foundation to what could be a great game with some balancing and added features, good work on your LD39 Jam entry.I wanted to just add that for a Jam entry it isn't bad and I understand a lot more would of been done with longer time to do so!
After that I opened the console and typed money=1000000000000; and was rich! :0)
Thank you for the game! :0)
