System.reLight by Reggnos

Greetings insert Robot name here, your new AI is up and running, just in time too. I’m afraid you’re closed in this wing due to a horrific invasion by some random alien hippies talking about how we shouldn’t desolate and mine their whole planet. Now it is your job as a peacekeeping robot to kill them and we can pretend this never happened. Fail and all our research will be destroyed, we will all die and you will be a very sad robot. Also please try and fix any rogue bots hacked by the aliens, your preferred method should be to smash them. Use your abilities to your advantage as we try to clean up the bugs in your UI, namely the fact that just by being alive you lose energy constantly. Lose all your energy and die horribly. We were able to insert a kinetic energy punching attack which allows you to hit other robots in order to drain their energy, after you charge it up by landing shots with your coil gun, provided your AI doesn’t fail you and you miss as that will drain some stored kinetic energy. We will do our best to try and power up some chargers in certain rooms, so try and find them when we tell you. Move with your legs and don’t die, now go and save us!

- The less energy you have the lights are weaker
- Charging stations periodically activate around the map, and are used to regain energy quickly
Goal

Solid entry for a weekend only - kudos to your artist too, things look excellent.
I found the music to be a little bit to cheerful, it didn't really fit super well in my opinion.
We just had the same idea, but didn't pursue it cause we didn't think we couldn't assume the work amount for graphics, but i just have to say that you nailed it !
There sure some things to correct like the damages made by the main weapon compared to the melee attack, and the balancing of the costs of energy, but well, that's details.
Great mood, great graphics, a performance in 72h !
Good job guys !
I really liked the mechanic of alternating between firing and using melee, made the combat a bit more interesting and forced you to switch it up a bit. The mood was good, it alternates quite well between a bit somber and eerie, and quite exciting when you're down to your last 10% power and the lights are dimming and you're surrounded.
Overall it was quite fun! I'm sure it would have been even better with some more polish!
Well done guys!
Pros:
Looks good - good job with the "real" flashlight lighting, nice UI / fictional world
Interesting, cute choice to make the firing sound a synth note :)
Cons:
Movement is a little sluggish - would expect it all to be a bit snappier (quicker acceleration / deceleration)

P.S. I wonder what that poor guy was watching on the screen with projector...
The mood is also good.
I love the graphics. The environment feels quite immersive, and all the lighting effects really breathe life into the game. The sounds are okay, the music is a little basic though.
I must say though the gameplay has a few issues. Foremostly, the character sliding around doesn't feel too good. A bit of slide a-la Doom wouldn't hurt, but this is entirely too much. It makes moving around a real pain, not to even mention dodging charging enemies and projectiles, which is also where the corridory level design doesn't help either.
Regarding your weapon, it doesn't feel all too rewarding to hit projectile shots. They travel too slowly, and when you miss it's mostly because by the time your energy orb reached the enemy they already decided to travel in a different direction. There are no prediction shots in this game, which makes the kinetic energy mechanic that rewards good aim a little misguided since the only reliable way to hit enemies is to shoot them as they run either straight at you or straight away frLS
Things I would love in a polished version:
* Smoother animations
* Tighter movement
* I would consider changing the sprint to a roll/evade manouver since there are enemies that are really fast and you dont really use the sprint so often
* Some audio cues for the enemies so that you can distinct when there is an enemies around the corner (kinda like the clickers in the Last of Us)
I really liked this entry, thanks for suggesting it! :)
