Radiation: A Push Your Luck Game in a Post Apocalyptic world.

Radiation is a push your luck game where you are tasked with getting 20 gallons of fuel so you can blast off this irradiated world and find a new place to call home.

Each turn you will roll 3 dice which simulates your efforts in finding the 20 gallons of fuel you need. As you roll the dice you will either find Fuel, get radiation poisoning or find nothing at all.

If you get too much Radiation poisoning, 10 points, you will lose all of the fuel you gathered that turn and your turn will end. You will recover 1/2 of your radiation poisoning though.

Passing your turn before you get 10 points of radiation poisoning will allow you to recover 1/2 of your radiation poisoning.

Keys for all of the builds:

  • M - toggle muting/unmuting sounds

  • Keypad - to decrease audio

I apologize to those on laptops who don't have a separate keypad. :(

This is a pretty minimal game than what I normally do for an LD. Its mostly just the Unity UI and some small pixel art graphics I made. I wanted to do something light and fun, something that could be played quickly but satisfy that gaming itch. Think if it like a "filler" game.

There is audio for clicking the buttons, rolling the dice and certain combos you can get. I chose not to include music as I couldn't find anything appropriate and there is no sound for hovering over a button.

Let me know what you think. I know it has flaws and I need you all to point them out to me. Its the only way I can grow as a game developer.

I thank you for playing and rating my game!

The game uses RNG to decide on what die to select. I tried code for several RNGs and settled on Unity's Random.range method. The computer AI uses it to, so if you do happened to lose trust me the computer is not cheating it just got the lucky rolls! :)

Compelling enough that I pulled out a notepad to record rolls and see if the computer was cheating. Apparently it wasn't. I was just unlucky at first :)

Neat little game. I got so shocked, I had 1 more bar until I was at full radiation and I rolled anyway xd

Managed to survive and I passed the turn next.

I won my first game and went off, hopefully I found a better place.

Graphics are brutal, the background is hard to look at and the text is hard to read, I understand you are going for a specific style but the font is questionable and the color makes it worse. Cool concept and interesting gameplay. Computer would always take such a long turn.

Those triple nothings killed us the first time, the 2nd time we won handily. What's the distribution? [?, ?, 2R, 1R, 2F, 2F]?

Haha, took me way too long to beat the computer (like 5 games). Is more addicting than it should be!

It seems like there isn't much in the way of strategy for this game? You just roll the dice, and if you get lucky you'll win.

Also it seemed like 2 pages of rules was way overkill for a game of this scope. Maybe think about what stuff is already communicated through the UI so you can just give the player the crucial info they won't be able to glean when as they play.

Fun gameplay. I played a couple times and wasn't able to defeat the computer. I was extremely unlucky, so I guess I shall remain on the planet for now :). Thanks for creating this game.

I like the concept of doing radiation with the theme of LD40. I think I have some -hopefully- helpful pieces of feedback for you about your game.
- The text is really hard to read in the Instructions. I think the neon green on top of yellow background is causing that problem.
- The instructions is a huge screen of text. You went into a lot of detail about 1x 2x 3x fuel and radiation but I think most players would have figured that out anyway from the little output text you give after each roll.
- I'm not really sure how your game fits as You vs. Computer. Is the Computer supposed to be another Person on this wasteland? I think with some more thought here, the opponent could be described as something that is part of the story of your game.
- Mechanically, I really enjoy some of these dice rolling games! The implementation of your mechanics seems to fit well with the theme.

Best of luck in future LD's!
