Altogether a very nice game!
The graphics, while simple, were really well animated :)
I really liked how much worse things got the more I had. Unfortunately, it got so bad after 2 that I killed myself with my own bubble, didn't manage to get three crystals :(. The one-hit kill was a bit rough -_-.
* He would be able to escape from enemies, which would remove all difficulty from the game
* The time window between an enemy entering the screen and bumping into it would be too small, which would make it frustrating
So it isn't a trivial matter.
Moving the camera towards the direction the player is facing could help, but was out of scope for the game.
Happy you like the animations, it was my first time making any!
I agree that the difficulty is a bit high. It's not impossible, but dying after having two crystals and having to start over isn't challenging but somehow frustrating.
I think that the simpler solution for this would be to give the player one or two lives before Game Over. Perhaps a Difficulty selector with Easy, Medium and Hard more.
The main thing I am going to have to bring up is the controls. If you are running away from a monster, you can't fire at it! It's really annoying; as soon as you turn around, you lose. There's no way you can recover. If you made firing WASD instead, that would be a lot better. Then I could press UP to go away from a monster, say, but press S to fire at it. Then you could also add more enemies, and more difficult enemies. Otherwise the game basically got reduced to hiding along the walls and sniping.
I really like this game and hope that you keep developing it! You've got a cool retro game on your hands.
I liked how the wizards powers change with the more crystals you collect. Until I ran into one of my own "bubbles"... and died... that was a sad day. haha.
Cute and fairly fun.
The first time I died by running into an enemy. The second time I died by running into my own bullet...not great. I didn't have the patience to win. But I did have some fun!
