My First Mini Game For LDJAM 40

5 Levels Only "Race to Goal" One Way Platformer.

How to Play: 1) Run to the Goal within limited time. 2) Eating will increase your poo and speed but to a certain volume it will reduce your speed. 3) Go to WC will poo some of your body waste.

Use higher resolution to play the game would be better.

Control: UpArrow - Jump, Left Shift - Run, Esc - Pause/Restart Level

About Version 0.1.3: Hopefully fix the problem of player stucks in the bricks and error may occur when player gets into WC.

About Version 0.1.2: Improved the responsiveness of the control and change the layout of control left shift as run instead of space previously

About Version 0.1.1: Fixed a bug on the menu that resume the level after pause, the "Replay Level" did not disappear.

Humorous game, especially 'fail scree' when you poo on the street is funny. Neat idea and decent execution, i like minimalistic art style with an oldschool vive to it. Game might a be bit too challenging, especially when first tries on each map are just so you can get familiar with level layout. But in general pretty funny game.

The art is nice and the start/finish progress indicator is a nice touch too, the game was confusing at first, but after that it becomes fun and a good "race to the finish" type of game!

you was have time to make mini map is good. tiles and character pixel size doesn't match .Monochromic atmosphere is excellent . Mine game monochrome too . actually I didn't want to struggle with it :smile:

The gameplay is good, although I needed a few minutes to understand how it worked (didn't read the information - duh) Nice idea, pretty funny :3

I don't think it's difficult only because of the level design but of the unresponsive controls. The idea is good but every loss (after the first two or three that is funny to see the character) feels frustrating because the more I play doesn't give me more knowledge on how to beat the level. The game is eat something so you can run, avoid everything else, but the layout of food is made for you to pick up extra things and arrive to the end of level with little time. That is not really rewarding for the player. Also, besides the progress bar on the top right, a visual mark for knowing where is the end of the level would be a nice touch. The election of controls is a little weird, as both space and up arrow are classic jump keys.

@le-slo Thanks for detailed review!! I will try to fix the responsiveness of the control. Becoz there was not much time left before the deadline so it's not perfect on it.
Ah and also the election of control I will try to change it.

Cool idea. Nice work with the theme. Controls don't seem to be responsive all the time so it's really hard to beat the level. In third level, I got passed all but had to poo near the exit so that's a bit frustrating, since it's time limited.
For the programming part there hasn't been any issues to my concern, but perhaps you should change how jumping works. Also, the controls could have been laid out better.

I didn't find this game funny or enjoyable. It is impossible to avoid the obstacles. No tutorial, no goal, no description of any kind...

1st game after so many that had some funny elements in it :D

Mechanics and graphics are simplistic and the LD Theme goal well with it. I think you have done a great job :)

nice entry! funny addition to a runner game :D HTML build somehow crashed when I touched the toilet in level 4 (not quite sure about the level) might be a rare one. Good job tho!

I think if there is a restart button like "R", that will be more comfortable to play with! Most of the time I know I will poo on street on half way and I can only wait for this horrible thing happened!
Also, I think the highest score kind thing is needed for this type of game, I don't mean the player's own highest score but all the players. However, that may be too much for a game jam so you can add a "creater's highest score" like a lot of other games did! That gives player motivation to play your game more than one times!
BTW I love that you add a shift key for speed up, this simple thing make your game a lot more strategical!

@goldranger Thanks!! Actually you can use Esc to pause and restart the level, but I did not mention it in the LD page, that's my fault. The advice about motivation is nice but is it valid for creator to add such feature to the game in the post-jam period?

I seems possible to beat the game without touching WCs at all and I think I did it that way. Some jumps a quite tricky so a player has to release shift while jumping which is fine, but I'd preffer more 'air control' using back arrow (maybe?).

Art is pretty nice, pizza is my favorite one. :pizza:
