End of Time by TolMera

Play as the Universal Computer - Guide Humanity to the end of time, and hopefully beyond.
Avert every day disasters - Answer Questions - Research.
Plan for the future, and if you do this right, you will make it beyond the end of time.
Controls: Mouse
BUG: needs to be played on a full size screen. Something where Bootstrap doesn't go mobil

In your Feedback, I would love to know what ending you get! There are 5 different endings I think?
Ok after watching some people play, and reading the feedback; I've decided to give some more detail about 'how' to play the game!
First off the interface: On the left side of the screen, you're going to be getting questions from people, choose the right answer and the happiness of the people will go up :) give the wrong answer, and their happiness will go down :( Don't answer the questions, and the happiness will still go down.
In the middle of the screen, you'll see a population graph. from time to time, a disasters going to come along and since you're in charge, you're going to have to decide how to deal with it? Choose well, and your population will go up (You could even hit scientifically high numbers!). Choose badly, and you'll kill everyone!!! (well not everyone, but don't let your population drop too far, or you'll find one of the secret endings to the game).
On the right side of the screen, you have the research tree! Most of the story is in the dialogues from the research tree, so try to read them if you can and the story will make more sense.
Keep up with your research or you won't get feedback about your population, what happens when a disaster strikes, or what choices you make will only show up after you do some research.
You can see the People's happiness if you click button at the bottom of the screen. (The buttons at the top of the screen don't do anything... sorry.. time n all that).
There are 5 endings to the game! Win: Beat Entropy and save the universe!!!
Loose: Bad Dictator - Get everyone killed. Time Waster - Do the wrong research (you have 5 researches you can get wrong). Bad Search Engine - People don't like your answers!

Kept me engaged though!
Like:
- haven't played ANY game like this
- web tech is beyond me, so I tip my hat
- game is really complex and lots of choices
- I love how researching religion is a bad idea
- the graph shows your situation really well
- so many choices that seem to build on each other.
Try differently:
- the feed in the left column is super spammy, I was feeling very overwhelmed
- the objective is very vague. even after two turns of explanation. :)
Overall:
- I researched fucking ROCK STARS! My work here is done! (sadly, I caused a bunch of wars and a huge population decline afterwards, but I guess you can't win em all)
- a very noteworthy entry!
This was the first game I've seen specifically made to be played in a browser so it stands out. I kept being prompted to research flawed science and I honestly don't understand why. I assumed it was a pseudo-science type thing and wanted to avoid it as much as possible. People create enough of their own weird ideas without official research i think. Even the CIA was asking for it, so eventually I relented assuming I must not understand the meaning properly. Sadly, with no artwork or sound there's a lot missing from a traditional game recipe. Hopefully others enjoy it like I did.
A few things you maybe could have enhanced:
- **When clicking a button,** it sometimes happened that I wanted to click the button, but in this moment, a new question "came in" and I answered something I didn't want to answer in a way I didn't want.
- **Maybe, making it a bit easier at the beginning** would have helped (like this, I got thrown into the game and had to study the UI while already getting thousands of questions)
After getting into it it was much fun playing, although unfortunately I didn't have the time to complete the game (I'm looking forward to trying it again with more time)
**All in All:**
One of the most complex games I've seen so far, which means I pretty much like it however good or bad the game is
**Jokes aside: A great concept and a great game !**
I didn't really feel like I got any indications on the gravity of my choices on research. I just kinda tried first to avoid researching anything that didn't sound useful, then after being prompted for "flawed science" (which I expected to be a bad thing) and the like multiple times I researched everything I could. Graphics could go a long way giving you a better sense of what's actually going on.
In any case, I very much liked it. Very well done!
Maybe give a couple more hints on what to research? Also, I had trouble following what impact answering the questions had. Overall a great idea for a game, and a very creative adaptation of a short story!
I think if I was to do anything more with this, I would link it to Twitter (never got that far), and have it so the players could post questions that would appear in the left side! make it a bit more interesting. (Would have to actively vet the questions though :-/)
@widdershinscrustacean (wow what a name) I'm happy to find someone else who likes the book! And, are you sure Googles not Sentient? ;)
@badly-drawn-rod (lol, nice name). I think that overloaded office job was the feeling I was going for, you're meant to be answering all of humanities questions :) so yea :) Awesome!
@Devastus Yea, feedback could be better.. research I think I left fairly mysterious. If you read the short story, you will see the theme behind the game, and maybe you'll see more of the research you should do, But otherwise I think it's all about trial and error. (There is a way to win - I'll post it up after the judging)
@alejandrodlsp - Awesome :) that's pretty good going, half an hour is a fair bit of time.
@pklaschka - Yea, that button jumping away and clicking another, that was annoying, I think CSS animations would have been good - but I'm a pretty naff designer. It's something for me to work on :) Otherwise I'm glad you liked it :)
@deathray - You Dictator! What did you do to your poor people? haha :) I hope you found the message funny :) It happens when you make them unhappy, and not answering their questions, it makes them unhappy :P :)
@Thygrrr - Go Rockstar! :)
@red-fan-games - There is a lot of text :) I kinda ran out of ideas for things humanity could ask the machine, not a creative writer myself :) Glad it got a couple of plays though :)
@piscythe - Dude You are Awesome! I'm so glad you dived in there and had a look behind the curtain! You'll have seen there is an ending for "Kill all humans" :) I love that you found more than just the death by entropy ending :) - Regarding research, I think you have 3~5 researches you can get wrong, but some bugs in there can trip stuff out (people telling you to research something you have already researched.) Thank you SO much for playing :) I'm stunned someone played it so many times :)
@ - Everyone Else :) - Thank you for playing as well! You're all awesome and I feel really overwhelmed! Thank you!
