Meter Maid DX is a game about a parking meter brought to life. She must collect money to stay alive.

Stand near a parking meter as someone pays into it to grift those sweet sweet coins.

But be careful! Grifting is stealing, which is illegal. Just like jaywalking. And the police are always on the prowl!

We really struggled with the theme this time, but you nailed it!
Super cute art. Really fitting music. Seriously impressive.
Also it's cool seeing more games made in Godot!

Good game. Great graphics and audio. Great polish. Loved the intro cutscene. Nice job making it skip-able. My only request would be some way to temporarily lure away the police. Love that you used the Godot engine! Represent!
BTW: Godot exports to html really easily. Next time, you should put an html version on itch.io.

The cut scene was great. The overall idea was unique, and the execution was good.

My only gripe is that the levels were too long.

This game could be fleshed out into something larger. Good job!

So, the game is really nice, the art is really good, the music is cool, the concept is funny and the execution is really well-made, but I felt the game was way too slow, and in general, not very fun; During the most part of the game it was just waiting for something to happen, either waiting for a car to come, for the money to be collected, or for the police officer to pass. I think with a bit more element to interact, and new elements to keep the player active at all time, this would be a really cool game :)

As dodormeur said, it lacks some player interaction. The art is great but I felt levels were just waiting for two minutes. Maybe to let players appreciate the view ?

Oh I remember seeing your initial posts, cool to see how far you guys took it. Nice pixel graphics, good to see the mechanics you implemented. Would've been nice to have more police and things around but good nonetheless. keep up the good work!

I loved playing though this one! The art was ***adorable***, and the gameplay was easy to understand. Great fun! (Also, go Godot!)

I tried taking penalties and seeing what happens when you run out of money, and you did great there too. Adorable "out of money" animation, and great idea for the tickets!

The main idea that comes to mind when I thought about how you could improve it, would be changing Mimi's sprite so you can see the money meter change along with the GUI. Like in Splatoon how the ink tanks are on the Inklings backs, but instead the (hat? Not sure what that's called.) on Mimi's head.

Nice looking graphics and that intro/plot is amazing! As some people already said, the levels felt a bit to long. Great entry with a unique approach in terms of the plot. Liked it!

The graphics were the best part, I love the anime style character, and the sound was also nice. Bit lacking in gameplay, but that can be improved. Maybe upgrades to get more of their money or to walk faster, or be stealthier

Well this is just fantastic, and I'm fully in support of any contributions to the turn-everything-into-waifus movement. Five star parking meter maid waifu here. Really frustrating though to have the police-chans standing on the meters every time a car shows up DX

Meter Maid is the best waifu. I never knew jaywalking could be so much fun. The game is kind of limited, and probably would have gotten old if you had more levels, but I really liked it, especially the cute graphics. My favorite Ludum Dare game so far!

Love love loooooove the art style here. The character's designs and movements remind me a lot of the Shantae games! :)

I think the concept here is really interesting and unique. Building a natural traffic system must not have been easy at all. I'd love to see this expanded with some more polish. Maybe a larger map, different cop routes, etc.

Awesome job!

just like @loadsofmana, I ALSO support inanimate waifu characters (as you saw in our game). I usually blow by LD cutscenes cuz they usually don't match my sense of humor but your game hits the spot. Absolutely hilarious narrative that drew me in, and a really unique gameplay on top of that. I've never seen gameplay like this, a crossover between prophunt and a stealth game.....kinda? Great choice of UI in putting the character face right in the game. I know this probably isn't your inspo but it reminds me of UN Squadron, where the face was pretty needless but it gave it a lot of character. Grats on putting out such an original game!

Very cute game, I wish there was a bit more to interact with though.

Good work using Godot, I always love to see support for that engine.

meter maid  :sweat_drops: :sweat_drops:

Really clear, fun and simple design. Kinda wish the action was a little quicker, though. And i was surprised by how little levels there were! it was just getting more fun too, with there being more to juggle in the second level. Love the detail that people come back out of places to put more money into the meters.

"This parking meter had hopes and dreams" I think is my favorite intro line from this entire competition. Catchy music, cute art, and fun gameplay. Really well done!

Very cute, I liked the flavor about cops getting you for jaywalking, would have liked for more meters but still pretty entertaining quick game.

The number of art assets that you have here is impressive. I like the inclusion of the music and storyline, and the second level.

I think the instructions screen could benefit from some cleaner design though, like adhering to a grid and less use of bold font.

The game is cute and original, still. Good work!

Love the art, love the concept.
More thing to do would boost this game a LOOONG way.
More places to take money from, more illegal things you could do (Of course it's unreasonable to expect any more but this is for if you ever decide to update the game)
I see this as some sort of Mini GTA1, you go around stealing money, completing missions but with the ever looming time limit that keeps you moving. Anyway games with Anime Girls in them get the seal of approval from me.

That was a neat idea. Although the game needs some polishing here and there (the cars pushing the maid around was lol), it has a lot of promise!

I really liked the design of Mimi and the story was super fun. The idea was great but felt a little repetitive. If it had had a few more features, it would have been a better experience. Good job! :red_car:

The art in the intro sequence telling the story is amazing - very very well done.
I like the basic mechanics. I like the way the radii on the police officers is clearly communicated to me and I also like that there is very clear feedback for both jaywalking and panhandling. Well done!
