I'm not a very good artist but I like dramatic stories, so I put a little secret story in it :3 This my first time participating, please be gentle.
Status: The Game Jam Version has a game breaking bug at the end of World 1 :( But if you wanna play the whole game, there is a bug-fixed version available. All the content was added during the contest +10 minutes of fixing afterwards.

@pavel-smejkal You can shoot at the treats to make them respawn, also when you die they'll spawn different. To pass this room you'll need about 15 points to get through the red area. Later you can move back to other rooms to gather stuff :) Maybe I should have made my tip more precise.
1) Tight turns sometimes eat my inputs. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but when making two turns one after another sometimes the second turn's input doesn't seem to happen. I'm not sure what the cause is, but it's definitely annoying. It's likely I'm not inputting it quite correctly, but it's still extremely annoying, especially combined with
2) resetting to 0 hp on death. It'd be very nice to make it simply restart the room on death rather than resetting my hp to 0. It takes quite a while to build up to 20, and when I don't really know what everything does, experimentation and failure can be VERY expensive.
3) Lack of information. Tying in with the above, there's no text describing what various things do. It took me a while to figure out I was supposed to ram the diamond door once I picked up the diamond key thing (especially since it's placed at the back of the snake) and I still am not quite sure what all the different items do. Especially since getting the items takes quite a while, and you only can use it once.
This game has a lot of potential, but the small annoyances just added up too much.
The input lag is implemented on purpose to prevent the player from running into himself when changing directions too fast. Some people told me about that but for some reasons, I have not experienced any problems in the developing progress. Maybe I don't have problems with missing inputs because I'm used to the controls too much. Changing that would allow instant turns which would cause you to run in your segment right behind you and die.
I know it's really hard that you lose everything when you die but that's the base mechanic of snake so I'd rather lower the costs of stuff than removing that feature.
I have no excuse for the last thing. It's hard but I like it that way. I just gotta admit that things that seem self-evident to me may not seem that way to other people and I gotta work on that in future projects.
Thank you for your very detailed critics. I'll definitely consider them in the future but I can't change it in this game anymore because I don't have a permanent license for GameMaker.
