Space COW BOY by Venny

[raw]
made by Venny for LD 41 (JAM)

The cows are fighting back! After decades of livestock abduction by aliens, the bovines have risen to power and now pilot ships in their quest for vengeance!

Space COW BOY mixes modern touch controls with (simulated) old school hardware! Immerse yourself in a space shooter that wonders what the first portable console could've done if it was capable of rendering 3D graphics.

Music was made by my buddy CeeeX. You can find his stuff here!: https://soundcloud.com/cee-x

DbgvvROWkAAPcw-.jpg 128x128 the recommended resolution. Screenshot20180424-224630.png However you can go as high as 1024x1024 Screenshot20180424-224724.png You can also switch to first person(ish) if you need better aiming.

Absolutely loved this, really well executed a beautifully done.

At first i found the controls a little frustrating but i think this was due to the difficulty curve and had to replay a few times before getting the hang of the controls. After a while though i got it and really enjoyed it.

Only real suggestion would be the inclusion of some kind of scoring mechanic to give a reason to replay.

It may also be worth uploading some screengrabs since players will be downloading an apk from drive.

Great work!

@joekinglake thank you so much for playing!
I had a scoring system in mind, as well as a boss but I couldn't get them in time. It's definitely something I'm adding to a post jam build, as well as fine tuning the controls(the dpad needs a better neutral zone).
And yep, pictures will be going up soon, thanks for the feedback!

Super cute and well made! I didn't get far into it the game, but for what I saw and played, the controls were tight and didn't take me long to figure it out, artisticly looks like a real GB if it was capable of 3D, and thr music fits well. With some more time, this could become a very well fleshed out game but this is good, even for a jam like this. Good Job, Venny!

I really like the retro 3d graphics, and using the power light as a health indicator is very clever. I did find it hard to judge how far away enemies and projectiles are, but a good game overall.

@nebbishhacker thanks for playing! Unfortunately the artstyle I was going for meant depth perception was gonna be hard to achieve. It's gonna be one of those things that I'll just have to accept as a limitation of the media.

I don't know why but it doesn't let me download it, Drive tells me there is an error analyzing it.
The screenshots look amazing though

@AnaGF Hm that's weird, I don't seem to be having any issues with the links. Which one did you use?
