You are a money launderer. You take money from illegal activity and make the money untraceable. Certain activities draw heat from the FBI. Don't get too much FBI heat because the more you have the worse it is

Inspirations * Breaking Bad, Sopranos for theme. My girlfriend tells me I need to watch Ozark now. * Papers, Please for the initial idea of the vibe, tone and appeal of the game * Agricola (the board game) for the worker placement mechanic * Hearthstone 3-choice mechanic. The game originally had 3 choices but during playtesting I concluded that for this particular game, two felt better. * Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup for the turn-based “hard decisions” and the roguelike hope of “setting up cool combos” as well as an expectation that a high score leaderboard would work out well.

Tools: * Unity * Visual Studio * Photoshop * Audacity * LMMS * Development Streamed with OBS

UPDATE

Two small tweaks between "Original Submission" link and the latest version * Added support for the high score leaderboard to show more than 20 entries since it looks like lots of entries were made * Removed the guaranteed FBI raid at 10 heat to be a random chance based on having 10 or more heat.

Enjoyed this game quite a lot. Gameplay is very interesting, will probably take several playthroughs to beat your High Score though

Nice game! I like the idea a lot :). I'm not sure what I'd improve to be honest. Maybe add some background music?

I used to play flash games like this ALL the time growing up, so this was super nostalgic for me to play haha. I loved it, excellent job! I could definitely see a time-waster mobile game made out of this that I'd play the hell out of. :)

> I've got a job for you.

I can't take the mob boss seriously, he's too cute! :relaxed:

I liked the teddy bear/crime mash up. Not really played these kind of board/card games too much, they always feel a bit like its a matter of calculating how choices will add up which personally I don't find that much fun. I liked the style though, a bit of background music would have helped a lot also.

Really enjoyed this, and impressed you went above and beyond to include leaderboards too - all in a compo entry, to boot!

Fun game, I could feel the pressure building as I was scrambling to get the requested funds. I am a bit disappointed that after laundering $394k I was terminated for being short by just $1,000!
My one suggestion would be to add some sort of calendar display so it is a little easier to track what day it is and when the deadline is. I also didn't make the connection for several rounds that the henchmen are what limit the choices you can make!

This is one of my favorite LD games so far! Good idea including the inspirations for this game. I can definitely see some of the references in this. I couldn't believe how high some of the leaderboard scores were! My highest was mid $200,000's. The gameplay is very addictive, if a little difficult. I think you really have something here.

My only complaint is that I've noticed a few times that clicking on a second task before you finish getting all of the money for the first task causes you not to get the moeny for the second one. The graphics and UI design were great and the voice acting and sound effect were a terrific addition. It also fits the theme very well.

I would love to see this expanded into a full release. Great job!

This game is very unique! I like it. I can always appreciate it when someone makes a strategy game as there has to be a focus on good balance and decision making. It seems like you hit the nail on the head there. There's also a good bit of replayability, as I was playing games over and over to try to do better and get on the scoreboard (nice addition!) My only complaint would be that the game didn't quite hit the theme in my eyes. I always felt safe if the heat was 10 or below, so in that sense, it was more of a hard cutoff of "making it worse" than the more you have the worse it gets.

This game has some of that "stuff" that some games have. Where it isn't that it's overly pretty, or polished, or a AAA complex game - but it's remarkably fun, and leaves you thinking "why hasn't anybody done this before??"

Had a lot of fun, thanks for the game!

Nice work with the simple mechanics. Had good branching paths of what I could do and escalation of difficulty. I eventually lost just because I wasn't paying attention, derp! Since you're taking inspiration from Agricola, maybe having more a VP-style system would be good, so a single cock-up would just add like a Begging Card as opposed to making me lose immediately.

Fun game - I ended playing through a couple times and getting 72nd on the high score chart. (Not amazing, but I'll take it!) Very clever interpretation of the theme. Thanks for sharing this!

@eli-delventhal Definitely like the idea of the Begging Card or a way to avoid just having you lose immediately. If I continue work on the game post-jam this would be a great thing to iterate on next.

This game is a lot of fun. It is very well balanced. I enjoyed it. I guess I would say the weak point is just the graphics and lack of music, but nothing was so negative that it detracted from the gameplay. Great job.

This is one of my favorite games. I replayed it several times until I got to the leaderboard :)

The games is quite engaging and fun. My only complain is that randomness may cause games to become impossible to win, as you may not receive good enough skills to guarantee the required output of clean money.

I really think that this may be extended to a fully fledged game. Well done!
